Candidates must have:
1) Permanent status as Research Scientist 2 (SG-22), and be interested in reassignment, OR
2) A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field* and four years of such experience
Substitutions to #2:
- A Master’s degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience
- Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
- Appropriate fields include biostatistics, sociology, computer science, epidemiology, public health, etc.
Candidate for this position should be:
- Knowledgeable of public health practices, social science research methods, data analysis and peer review process for evaluating public health interventions.
- Experienced in applying SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework, Environmental Change Strategies for Prevention and using data for community-based prevention planning and evaluation.
- Proficient in the use of SAS or SPSS, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau is desired.
- Can organize, manage, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using descriptive statistics
- Have excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. This means having the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
- Skilled in presenting data visuals to wide audiences, especially those without a data background
- Ability to understand, interpret, and critique empirical findings.
