Human Resources Director
Assist with guidance and management of the overall provision of human resources services, policies, and programs for the agency.
Support the hiring process by attending job fairs as appropriate for hiring needs; helping to create, revise, and set up application packets and new hire packets for position groups.
Obtain references, assure that all hiring-related forms are returned and are complete, all required forms are present, and form sets for hiring are copied as needed.
Transmit completed form sets to correct locations; file (and later per record retention schedule destroy) all required documentation such as applications for persons not hired and job notices/ads.
Do initial orientation for new staff.
Work with staff on revisions of procedures related to personnel.
Handle employee grievances.
Support managers and supervisors in their work with their staff.
Keep up with federal, state, and program regulations related to HR as well as best practices; update forms and recommend changes to policies and procedures as needed to meet regulations.
Qualifications
Four-year degree in an appropriate field with at least two years of experience or a two-year degree with at least five years of experience in or directly related to Human Resources.
Have or be able to develop an understanding of ACHR and Head Start goals, philosophy, policies, and procedures, act on them, and see that they reflect in all written work for ACHR. ACHR’s philosophy includes inclusivity and respect for persons of any race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, color, national origin, age, disability, citizenship, or veteran status.
Must know or learn and stay current on all regulations and requirements relevant to personnel management at ACHR.
Must be able to work with a wide variety of people, and have a sincere interest in staff welfare. (5)
Must have a professional demeanor, and be able to remain calm, pleasant, and flexible under pressure. (6)
Proficient in (or able to quickly learn) MS Word and Excel, as well as specialty programs such as ChildPlus and Survey Monkey to work efficiently, work effectively on projects with other staff, and gather and interpret data to share with managers.
Have (or access to) a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and maintain liability insurance on the vehicle (must turn in a copy at every renewal) to be able to go to centers in two counties to work with/share information with staff if needed and to get to various meetings in our area and across the state.
