POSITION OVERVIEW:Under the supervision of the Vice President - General Manager, the Operations Manager holds the responsibility of overseeing the contract service operations. This role involves upholding the company's dedication to safety, operational superiority, and delivering exceptional customer service. The scope of this position encompasses various facets, including but not limited to driver and dispatch operations, training initiatives, and performance management.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:The below list is not all inclusive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
- Oversee and manage all facets of contract operations.
- Coordinate driver schedules and staffing levels to optimize operational efficiency.
- Ensure daily operations strictly adhere to DOT/FTA/ FMCSA rules and regulations.
- Accurately deliver mandated reports within specified timeframes.
- Maintain precise communication with, providing accurate updates on fixed route execution.
- Promptly address contractor requests, striving for timely resolution.
- Uphold comprehensive knowledge of routes and schedules.
- Monitor and manage driver labor and other operational expenses to meet budgeted profit margins.
- Conduct meticulous timecard audits for proper allocation within relevant labor departments.
- Thoroughly monitor driver performance using internal systems and control mechanisms.
- Investigate driver offenses and infractions, issue corrective action notices, monitor progress, and recommend terminations to Human Resources if necessary.
- Initiate driver training in collaboration with Safety, manage schedules, and track progress.
- Respond to incidents, accidents, and injuries, offering remote and on-site support as required.
- Evaluate team members through both informal meetings and formal annual reviews.
- Acknowledge client compliments and commendations, rewarding drivers for outstanding service.
- Investigate customer concerns, complaints, and service level agreement issues as directed.
- Contribute to goal setting with supervisors, managers, and staff.
- Perform tasks to streamline daily business operations.
- Adhere to all government regulations, policies, and standards, including Company administrative policies, procedures, and safety rules, in all business activities such as planning, assigning tasks, directing work, training, and managing staff and drivers.
- Foster a culture of safety and responsibility among team members by collaborating with the Safety Department to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Fulfill other assigned or requested duties as needed.
SCHEDULE:Exempt: In light of the nature of the transportation industry, the Company does not maintain regular business hours. You are expected to work customary business hours but will vary as determined by the Company’s specific business needs. Schedules are subject to change and may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or multiple-day shifts. Flexibility with the work schedule and the ability to work any shift assigned is required.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:- CDL license with appropriate endorsements and state certificates preferred, not required.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to motor coach operators including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Rules.
- Strong analytical, conceptualization, interpretation, and critical thinking skills
- Self-motivated with a sense of urgency, and readily acclimates to an ever-changing environment.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums (for example, face-to-face, e-mail, and presentations), listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, and clarify meaning for others.
- Ability to develop, coach, and mentor others including the ability to teach and prepare others for effective job performance.
- Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team, including those holding divergent and/or opposing views and goals.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:Required:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing staff of ten or more.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience dispatching in transportation industry.
- Two (2) or more years of recent (within the last 5 years) and relevant direct experience managing the operations of regularly scheduled fixed route public transit service similar in scope, size, and complexity of the work.
- Experience supervising staff in multi-shift, multi-site environment.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business, or related field.
Salary:$75K/yr - $85K/yr
