Job Title: Development Manager

Reports to: Development Director

The Development Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing all development activities, including, but not limited to: program sponsors, event sponsors, in-kind sponsors, as well as managing AcA’s annual membership program. Candidate must have excellent communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills, with a clear understanding of the ethical behaviors needed in trust-based relationship building.

Focus Area 1: Donor Management

Success Statement: The Development Manager keeps organized records of prospects and donations and proactively plans, solicits, and executes a year-round schedule of fundraising activities.

Performance Standard:

• Maintain a current prospect list, as well as actively solicit for all development activities, including, but not limited to: program sponsors, event sponsors, in-kind sponsors, members, grantors.
• Maintain and provide records of donations and pledges to meet AcA’s high standards of financial reporting.
• Contact and coordinate directly with sponsors and donors to ensure they are receiving the benefits associated with their giving.
• Coordinate with the Development Director to track leads for sponsors and donors.
• Maintain and communicate important sponsor and donor information in AcA’s CRM.

Focus Area 2: Special Events Management

Success Statement: AcA events are well planned and executed to reach their financial goal and maximize attendee engagement.

Performance Standard:

• Plan and manage special events, including President’s Circle Opening Receptions, Insiders’ Salon, and other membership-driven events, leading all aspects of production.
• Coordinate with vendors and sponsors for special event logistics.
• Serve as planning lead and on-site coordinator for special events.
• Assist in the planning and execution of AcA’s signature fundraisers, including but not limited to Gulf Brew, Pelican Ball, and The Sunny Side Jazz Brunch.

Focus Area 3: Membership Management

Success Statement: New and returning members are kept engaged by regular communications and about events planned by AcA’s Development department.

Performance Standard:

• Manage 3 levels of annual membership via AcA’s CRM.
• Regularly communicate and engage members via in-person and in a variety of media.
• Manage annual campaigns for new and renewing members.

Focus Area 4: Workplace Relationships

Success Statement: AcA has a cohesive team that supports one another and the mission of the organization.

Performance Standard:

• Report to the Development Director.
• Manage communication and task flow with members and sponsors.
• Prepare for and participate in regular staff and committee meetings.
• Participate in meetings with leadership, as requested.
• Assist other staff members and board members, as appropriate.
• Assist with special projects, as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Passion for the arts and a commitment to promoting cultural engagement in the community.
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining successful and lasting relationships with sponsors and donors is required.
• Demonstrated experience in using technology, including computer systems and applications is required.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects with emphasis on prioritization, multi-tasking and time management is desired.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, marketing, or other applicable fields is desired.
