AB LP is Hiring a Senior Business Analyst Near Nashville, TN
We are seeking a Nashville based Senior Business Analyst to join our Development Team in Derivatives IT. Derivatives IT supports all core functions behind Derivatives middle office functions. This involves trade capture, settlement, valuation and risk calculations, reporting to many constituents such as banks, internal portfolio accounting systems, client risk and statement reporting systems. Additionally, counterparty risk reporting and collateral management functions are supported, ensuring we understand and mitigate risks of business with brokers. The department configures, tests, customizes vendor software and builds/enhances proprietary software. The Derivative Technology Team is responsible for supporting and providing advanced tools to analyze, book, price, and risk manage a broad spectrum of products and assets used by the various Investment teams. In addition, this team supports Fixed Income, Equity, Commodity, and Currency OTC derivatives used throughout the firm's portfolio management, trading, and operations. Members of the Derivative Technology team play critical roles in the firm’s success by providing proprietary technology solutions and supporting vendor applications which assist in complex investment decision-making, streamline trading, reduce operational risk, and improve efficiency. The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for the IT support for the users of our Derivatives platform across multiple business lines and will provide business analysis on multiple ongoing and new initiatives related to derivative infrastructure across all asset classes. Success in this position requires knowledge of derivative instruments and derivative investment process, a solid understanding of a broad range of technology solutions, and outstanding client management skills. Describe the applications and business or enterprise functions the role supports: Vendor application Calypso and related interfaces to many enterprise systems are supported. The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: In-depth, hands-on involvement directly implementing the Calypso trading and settlements solution Work directly with users of the Calypso system to gather and document their business requirements, and with the customer project/systems team to implement those requirements. Follow up with the users to test the implementation, achieve signoff, and continue to move the system toward go-live Work hands on with the system to configure it and test it to ensure that it meets the business requirements Support of valuation and risk calculations for multiple OTC derivative instrument classes What makes this role unique or interesting? The Senior Business Analyst will play an integral part in moving AB forward while progressing themselves. The Senior Business Analyst must have Front Office experience / strong understanding of Risk, P&L, and an excellent understanding of trade capture and the trade life cycle, with strong knowledge of process flows between Front and Back Office. You will have responsibility for all aspects of analysis across the project lifecycle. This role allows the right candidate to learn a great deal about complex investments used by sophisticated investors. From a technical standpoint, the role allows a BA exposure to both learn SQL and light programming skills. Exposure to multiple functional roles in IT, across the lifecycle (design, dev unit testing, regression testing, UAT support, business support). Job Qualifications (The ideal candidate should have the following): Financial application support experience, preferably with derivatives (swaps, options, futures) though experience in fixed income and equity stock/bond processing will be considered Experience in design, testing and day to day user business function support experience required Some SQL Skills are useful but can be trained for a person with other strong technical skills (Excel/VBA scripting or other) The ability to communicate clearly and effectively Qualifications, Experience, Education: Bachelors in Finance, Economics, or equivalent experience with a STEM degree preferred 5 years of experience with design, testing and financial application support are required Skills: Knowledge of OTC Derivatives (Swaps and options, equity and fixed income) are most critical Use of Calypso across many OTC instruments for trade capture, valuation and reporting Knowledge of market data (rate curves, vol surfaces), & how to configure and use in Calypso Knowledge of futures, bonds and equity are useful as well Exposure to the lifecycle of investing, trading, accounting, performance and risk calculations, and reporting are all useful skills to the applicant Some technical skills such as SQL or Excel VBA coding would help demonstrate readiness to work in an IT group Special Knowledge: Financial applications related to derivative investment books and records, risk and valuation calculations, and derivative confirmation and settlement processes are highly specialized skills that would be helpful to have exposure, many parts of the process can be learned on the job to fill in gaps, but the ideal candidate has exposure to at least a couple of these functions related to derivatives or other complex investments such as loans and bonds.
