22nd Century Technologies, Inc. is Hiring a Speech and Language Pathologist (Part-Time) Near Columbus, OH

Duration: 3 months

Hours/Week: 15.00 Hours/Week

Job Description:

Job duties in order of importance: (These duties are illustrative only. Incumbents may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.)

  • Conducts assessments/evaluations (e.g.,
  • Candidacy for augmentative device application within functional contexts
  • Development of skill profile
  • Assessment of speech development relative to substitutions, omissions, deletions & additions of phonemes within connected conversational speech utterances
  • Functional assessment of low, mid & high level cognitive linguistic function within typical contexts
  • Assessment of oral & apparent pharyngeal phase function with respect to dysphagia management)
  • Determines level of receptive/expressive speech & language skills, swallowing skills, & social/pragmatic skills
  • Develops, modifies & implements individual & group therapy/treatment programs to enhance communication, address swallowing deficiencies & prevent asphyxiation based on assessment results (e.g.,
  • Recommends changes in texture of foods & consistency of liquids
  • Recommends medical referrals
  • Confers with medical staff regarding medications to improve swallowing
  • Participates in/suggests barium swallowing studies & follow-up)
  • Designs & personally delivers speech, language & dysphagia management services, which may include:
  • Hearing screenings
  • Training & support for hearing aids
  • Beginning reading
  • Word recognition
  • Survival signs
  • Articulation training
  • Use of appropriate functional, social communication skills
  • Use of sign language
  • Beginning letter writing
  • Demonstrates language techniques
  • How to use augmentative communication devices
  • Designs & delivers in-service training to other staff on speech-language techniques/protocols
  • Acts as sign language interpreter as necessary
  • Participates as member of interdisciplinary team for treatment & care planning
  • Attends meetings, workshops & seminars
  • Counsels/informs guardians/family members regarding issues
  • Composes/completes reports, lesson plans & program related documents
  • Operates computer using office/specialized software to:
  • Create, edit & store records, reports, lesson plans
  • Develop augmentative communication devices
  • Maintains electronic augmentative communication devices & hearing aids

Major Worker Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of speech-language pathology, state/federal standards
  • Skill in using diagnostic equipment, augmentative devices
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, draw conclusions.
  • Ability to develop/modify treatment programs & lesson plans.
  • Ability to gather, collate & classify information.
  • Ability to establish rapport with individuals/families.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed as speech-language pathologist in Ohio per requirements.

Training & Development Required:

  • Biennial renewal of speech-language pathologist license.

Unusual Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to communicable diseases & body fluids.
  • Exposure to individuals with behavioral outbursts.
