Summary:

The Financial Controller will oversee and manage the accounting and financial activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and external audits. Other functions the position will manage include accounts receivable function, accounts payable function, monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in submission to the board of directors.

The Financial Controller will report to and work closely with the Board of Directors and the other senior managers of the organization in implementing policies and procedures, cost savings, discussion of operations, standardization of information and creating a better workflow.

Essential Functions:

• Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation, all in accordance to GAAP.
• Deliver the year-end financial reporting on a timely basis.
• Ensure compliance with and prepare to file annual federal, state and etc. taxes.
• Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
• Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
• Participate in strategic financial projects, including developing financial strategy, including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting.
• High-level financial reporting and analysis.
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies.
• Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud; improve efficiencies and reducing costs across the business.
• Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses.
• Work with outside Audit, Tax and Treasury Managers to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting activities through annual reporting.
• Prepare summary feedback of financial statements variances to budget

Skills and Requirements:

• Strong background in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Manufacturing and ERP system knowledge.
• Experience with creating and analyzing financial statements.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
• CMA or CPA preferred.

At least five years of accounting and/or financial knowledge in a senior management role.
