We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Bookkeeper/Controller to oversee the financial operations and lead the accounting team at Apparatus Contractor Services. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, implementing strategic financial plans, and providing expert guidance to our clients. You must be able to lead and inspire a dynamic team of 2-3 other accounting professionals.

Responsibilities: 

• Provide full-service precision bookkeeping to exclusively construction industry clients, helping them understand their books and grow their companies.
• Offer virtual CFO services, assisting clients in understanding the direction of their company, the options they face, and how to improve their profitability and overall success.
• You will be responsible for leading a team of 2-3 other accounting professionals through transparent communication, constructive feedback, and fostering an environment of trust and accountability, driving continuous improvement and achieving collective goals
• Solve problems, teach, coach, and support clients, serving as an expert advisor to clients who depend on your expertise.
• Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Contributing to the development and enhancement of accounting processes and systems.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Proven experience in a public accounting firm is required.
• Must be ProAdvisor Certified with Quickbooks Online.
• Proficiency in Dropbox, Zoom, Google Drive, and the full Microsoft Suite.
• Excellent customer-facing communication skills.
• Fully functioning home office with computer, scanner, and Zoom capability.
• Comfortable coaching, supporting, teaching, and managing clients through periods of confusion and stress.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary at $65,000 - $75,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Other Information:

• Location: Fully remote - US only.
• Working Hours: Monday through Friday, approximately 8 am to 5 pm, based on your local time zone (US Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific).
• Company Base: Portland, Oregon, but remote work allowed from anywhere in the US.
