Job Requirements:
  • Hires, trains, supervises, disciplines, and motivates associates.
  • Trains associates in the newest product and service knowledge.
  • Prepares bar associate schedules which allow for appropriate service while controlling labor costs and overtime.
  • Assists in all food and beverage departments as needed.
  • Communicates with other departments to ensure a supporting team of professionals.
  • Forecasts covers and revenues and then schedules associates accordingly.
  • Prepares biweekly payroll approving timecards as required by HR.
  • Thorough understanding of all beverage items offered, including ingredients, methods of preparation, and proper service.
  • Expert knowledge of wines and spirits.
  • Maintains a daily log for communication between bar associates and with upper management.
  • Handles all inventories directly involved with the operation of the bar outlets and beverage in rooms.
  • Thorough understanding of the computer system in ringing, printing, and closing checks as well as shift reports.
  • Properly handles and reports associate and guest accidents as needed.
  • Uses cash handling procedures to accurately charge customers, create forecast, and revenue reports.
  • Excellent knowledge of wine and cocktails.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain Alcohol Awareness certification and Food Handlers Certification
  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency of the English language.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Kowledge of a Standard bar setting
  • Elevate service through continual training sessions.
  • Build local relationships with vendors, purveyors, and businesses.
  • Ensures the correct and consistent service techniques for various meal periods will be demonstrated by all associates members.
  • Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans, and objectives and manages within those approved plans
  • Create training programs to elevate service including coffee, tea and non-food and alcoholic beverage services.
  • Handles all inventories directly involved with the operation of the hotel Beverage department.
  • Creates and maintains an energizing environment, with superior associates, dedicated to an attentive, distinctive food and beverage experience.
  • Plans and executes functions or special receptions in rooms, suites, and boardrooms.
  • Oversees mini bar procurement, distribution, billing, and inventory.
  • Observes daily conditions of all physical facilities and equipment in the restaurant; makes recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.
  • Works with reservations, kitchen, and sales for rooms packages and amenities requiring F&B.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by management.

Education Requirements:
  • College degree preferred, preferably in hotel and restaurant management
  • 2 years of beverage management experience.

Fundamental Requirements:
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, The Beverage Manager will be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel such as but not limited to weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Able to work alone without direct supervision.
  • Constantly recommend service and product improvement to better the operation.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Continuous standing and walking
  • Negotiating wet tile floor and steps
  • Trays weigh up to 25 lbs.
  • Carts: 250 lbs. (12-20 lbs. of push/pull force required)
  • Hot box: 20 lbs.
  • Standing and walking is continuous for 4-5 hours at a time
  • Lifting and carrying 25 lb. tray, crate or box is occasional
  • Negotiating varied floor surfaces is continuous
