The Senior Director of Total Rewards is accountable for the strategy, design, development, and implementation of Total Rewards to enable M Financial Group’s People Strategy. The individual must be both strategic and hands on in leading all facets of compensation, benefits, (partner with payroll), and HR platforms. The successful candidate will be proactive and innovative to ensure our rewards and people practices are competitive, drive business results, and enhance our culture. Communication and education are critical to ensuring our programs are understood and valued by our employees and people managers. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this individual works closely with the CFO, CEO and entire executive team in driving innovative solutions to address the needs of M Financial Group’s growing business.

RESPONSIBITIES

Strategy Development:

  • Develop the long-range plan for the Total Rewards function
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure the Total Rewards strategy leverages compelling and equitable compensation and benefits programs that will attract and retain talent to align with the growing business
  • Understand external landscape and best practices that are shaping the insurance and wealth management industry; and work with team to understand current best in class practices and where there may be gaps 
  • Provide strategic direction, planning, and requirements to execute the design, implementation communication, and administration of the company’s compensation programs to ensure competitive programs to attract, retain and motivate employees
  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure that our benefits strategy aligns with company values and will attract, engage and retain top talent for the organization, including evaluation, design, implementation, communication, and compliance for health &welfare, retirement, paid time-off, and disability plans
  • Participate as an active member of the HR Leadership Team

Team Leadership:

  • This position will currently manage one employee
  • Develop team members and create a space where everyone can learn and grow
  • Partner and mentor members of the broader HR team and business

Executional Excellence:

  • Lead the creation and execution of executive compensation matters (incentive pay, annual performance targets and funding) in partnership with the CHRO, CEO, CFO and the board Compensation Committee
  • Provide oversight and support the team to deliver core processes, program management, systems and content delivery (HRIS, benefit open enrollment, benefit program design, contract negotiations, annual merit, salary structures, short-term incentives and long-term incentives, communications and engagement materials, job title standardization
  • Ensure all programs are administered in compliance with federal and state specific regulations. This includes management of all compliance filings, reports, and audits related to the administration of employee compensation programs either directly or through vendor/partners
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with laws and evolving HR processes, technologies and workflows that best serve the business
  • Create any needed programs and frameworks that are required to execute on MFH’s strategy
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of our rewards programs to ensure they are aligned with our business and talent strategies and monitor market trends to make recommendations for changes, as appropriate
  • Ensure we have the right technology and vendor portfolio to execute on our strategy and ensure we have the right metrics and tracking in place to measure outcomes
  • Serve as an integral member of the HR Leadership Team to advise on programs impacting the organization as a whole and collaborate with HR Business Partners to understand and address the unique needs of various client groups

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in Mathematics, Human Resources, Business or any other related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Master’s Degree preferred
  • Relevant certifications
  • 8 years of progressive, related compensation and benefits administration experience working with vendors, auditors, legal counsel and other third-party providers for annual renewal, plan design, compliance and plan interpretation
  • Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience
  • Experience interfacing with a board of directors or Board Compensation Committee
  • Experience working with senior leaders, including the CEO, CFO and General Counsel
  • Must have knowledge of government regulations and filing/compliance requirements affecting employee compensation and benefits programs, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, Section 125, HIPAA and DOL requirements
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and solve challenging problems in a fast-paced, environment while also working collaboratively in a team environment

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.
You will also be eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.

JOB CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work primarily onsite from Dallas, TX office
  • Normal office environment/desk assignment
  • Extensive use of PC’s, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouse
  • Extensive hands-on work with documents, spreadsheets, and other written documents
  • Minimal Travel may be required >20%
