TITLE: GIS Administrator
LOCATION: Northwest Houston
TYPE: Contract (6 Months)
RATE: $40.00 - $42.00 / per hour
SUMMARY:
The GIS Administrator will work at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography. Their primary duties include maintaining spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets.
DUTIES:
- The GIS Administrator supports and maintains the accuracy of the Geographic Information System.
- Responsible for data creation and maintenance of GIS data as well as fulfilling requests from staff and outside entities for accurate, customized, and visually appealing maps and reports.
- Managing GIS datasets and their associated databases by utilizing ESRI GIS software program to develop, analyze and maintain various GIS data layers and imagery in shape file, file geodatabase and enterprise geodatabase formats.
- Conducts research, compile, create, reformat, convert, process, edit, interpret, query, validate, organize and manage the GIS database, including feature and attribute data manipulation from various sources, to support daily operations.
- Investigate reported location and routing discrepancies, participate in GIS/Database related project planning meetings, fulfill request from staff and outside entities for accurate, customized and visually appealing maps and reports
- Ability to learn new technologies, skills and software platforms/extensions quickly with minimal oversight.
- Ability to show attention to detail and process including creative thinking and seeking innovative solutions.
- Identify and analyze problems distinguishing relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions providing solutions to individual and organizational problems.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 4 years of general GIS Technology experience
- Daily GIS and MSAG maintenance, detailed and efficient use of NOC management tool (Ticketing System), process plats for new streets.
- Data analysis and data manipulation for reports.
- Working in AGOL (ArcGIS online) and ArcPro and ArcGIS, all ESRI based applications.
- Knowledge of python, model builder.
- Potential knowledge of GIS technical structure for any technical assistance.
- Knowledge of development integration and administration techniques for GIS.
- Knowledge of MS Visio.
- Understand fundamentals of GIS and GPS concepts including geographic datums, map projections, data transformations, coordinate systems, georeferencing, resolution, and accuracy of spatial data.
- A basic understanding of the concepts behind data management in a relational database.
- Ability to utilize ArcGIS Online software for data integration and management, visualization, generalization, and analysis.
EDUCATION:
- 4 years of general GIS Technology or College Graduate with GIS background
- Directly related job experience or technical certifications may be substituted
