The Analysis Division at Headquarters Air Combat Command is a diverse team of mathematicians, operations analysts, and data scientists working to provide decision support to the highest echelons of Air Force leadership.You will tackle questions such as: "What is the risk of engaging in a near-peer warfighting campaign?” or "What are the optimum modernization schedules within a range of budgets?” We are looking for team members with strong critical thinking and technical skills; bonus points if you have operational experience in combat aircraft.
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full time Operations Research Analyst-GS-1515-14 to work at the HQ Air Combat Command, JBLE-Langley,
Virginia.
Member
will serve as a professional Operations Research Analyst responsible for performing, directing, reviewing, and consulting on scientific studies (either independently or as a team leader), on military problems requiring use of one or more scientific fields. These problems are of a highly specialized nature and of unusual complexity. The division employs the concept of Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to accomplish major aspects of its work.This position includes responsibility for leading one of the IPTs.
-Salary $123,914 - $161,090-Relocation Incentive may be offered to eligible candidates-Telework may be authorized up to 20%-Travel authorized up to 25%

Summary:
-U.S. Citizenship required.-This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP).The employee is subject to random drug testing.-Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.-Position is designated Critical Sensitive and requires eligibility for access to TS-SCI-Must have a bachelor's degree in operations research or in a related technical discipline such as mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, or engineering. Advanced degree(s) are preferred.-Further information about the 1515 series can be found at:
https://www.opm.gov/policy -data- oversight/classification - qualifications/general -schedule-qualification- standards/1500/operations -research-series-1515/-Must exhibit a high degree of judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and the ability to foresee the impact of changing technology.-Plans and executes most broad, complex, and difficult operations research studies.-Independently develops and applies simulation or analytical models, adapting, and modifying as needed.-Provides authoritative recommendations identifying the need for original studies.Justifies and presents proposals to higher authorities.-Provides information or assistance orally and/or in writing on assigned operations research duties.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required for the position.Resume should reflect experience demonstrating required skills.-Knowledge of operations research analysis techniques and possession of analytical abilities.-Knowledge of weapons systems.-Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques.
-Ability to design, build, and use models and simulation techniques.-Ability to organize and lead study team.-Ability to originate new ideas, projects, studies, and methodologies.-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
