SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
•Initiates efforts to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and implement continuous improvements in methods or equipment.
•Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order toplan department operations.
•Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
•Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data and provides monthly production reports.
•Plans and directs daily production operations with an ability to anticipate and alleviate production problems, such as material shortages, equipment malfunctions, andemployee-related situations.
•Supervises and leads departmental safety and housekeeping practices and maintains a constant alert for hazardous conditions.
•Educates employees and enforces company rules and regulations, including but not limited to, safety rules and regulations, policies and procedures, production, andquality expectations. Assists Human Resources in disciplinary procedures where necessary.
•Leads and participates in company-sponsored activities such as training, site projects, and safety programs.
•Direct supervision and coaching of shift supervisors and shift leaders toward attainment of product quality, ISO requirements, and production efficiency goals.
•Review plans and confer with research or support staff to develop new products or processes.
•Responsible for tooling, supplies, and machine costs to include maintenance requirements; Cooperates and works closely with Maintenance and Tooling departments.
•Communicates daily shift production results including reports for downtime, quality and material issues; Coach direct reports in interpretation of data.
•Create and execute staffing and cross training plans to mitigate direct labor challenges.
•Owns process for make/buy strategies collaborating with Engineering and Planning departments to create and implement.
•Willing to travel as may be required for specific job-related training at machinery suppliers or trade show, etc.
•Responsible for OTD of machined components to internal customers.

SUPERVISORY/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly leads team of 30 to 40 employees. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university and 3 to 5 years related supervisory experience, and/or training; or Associate's (A.S.) degree and 5 to 7 years related supervisory experience, and/or training; or High School diploma and equivalent combination of education and experience. Position requires strong working knowledge of CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, and manual machining operations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the company's manufacturing software, ERP and planning systems, AutoCAD, along with functional knowledge of Microsoft Office tools. Experience with CNC mill and lathe programming preferred.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must demonstrate thorough understanding and use of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
