Position Description

The Clearing is seeking a Senior Principal in the role of Account Manager for a large federal government agency. The Account Manager will own overall accountability of the account, including designing and implementing account strategies, overarching delivery quality, client experience and satisfaction, team effectiveness, and profitable growth. The Account Manager’s primary role is to partner with our senior leadership team to generate a shared view on top-line growth and ways that we might increase our impact within the agency/organization. To support business stability, the Account Manager partners with business leaders and project leaders to ensure that the client experience is enhanced as projects grow in size and scope. 

Candidates must be local to the DMV or willing to relocate. Final candidates may be asked to submit a writing sample upon request.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

  • Work with Customer Experience (CX) Solution Designer on business development activities in the federal market
  • Continue to refine the value proposition of the team/company in the market, which includes the existing solutions as well as developing new solutions according to market demand
  • Own client satisfaction and serve as an elevation/escalation point for clients
  • Responsible for fiscal and programmatic oversight of a federal government account, enabling and ensuring the successful management of financial and programmatic aspects of project lanes/projects, including time tracking/reporting, expense reporting, invoicing, task planning, and status reporting
  • Own responsibility for the development of our people in the work, including consideration for team member utilization, team account planning/strategy, and individuals’ growth across the account
  • Contribute to a culture of learning that drives individual and organizational growth and performance; contribute to the positive experience of peers and staff
  • Reinforce and promote the goals and measures associated with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts
  • Meet annual revenue target and contribute to the company’s financial growth
  • Oversee financial tracking/reporting, including expense reporting, invoicing, task planning, and status reporting
  • Design and manage the production of high-quality client deliverables
  • Advise and contribute to the development of long-term and short-term project plans
  • Design, facilitate, and manage client meetings to achieve identified, desired outcomes successfully
  • Engage with clients and successfully advise in one-on-one conversations
  • Participate in marketing and networking efforts to share TC’s value proposition and build brand awareness
  • Identify and qualify leads and coach others in the end-to-end business development cycle

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a relevant field (business, management, etc.) preferred
  • 15 years of management consulting experience
  • Experience in change, product, and customer and employee experience (CX, EX) 
  • Proven track record of account management and growth in the consulting industry (or professional services industry) 
  • 10 years of experience managing large-scale change management projects and medium to large-sized teams
  • A strategic mindset, coupled with a customer-centric approach and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Solid understanding of federal government contracting
  • Proficient financial acumen in relation to a professional services firm
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance and/or a positive suitability determination
  • Proficiency in developing pricing strategies that enable profitable growth
  • Proven experience in change management, organizational development, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of change management principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Successful project management experience of end-to-end full-time projects and/or multiple part-time projects, from scoping tasks and managing resources to completing such tasks on time, within budget, and to specifications
  • Experienced in building client relationships, providing advice and recommendations to clients (both individual and teams)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to easily communicate ideas and findings; Ability to synthesize and succinctly articulate research findings
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation creation tools, and internet research tools; familiarity with Google Suite is a plus
  • Ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Baltimore metro areas; occasional travel outside of these regions could be expected (5%)
  • Desired skills, experiences, and certifications: PMP and/or Prosci certification, change management, strategic communication, program management, and/or organizational design experience
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

While performing duties of this job, an employee may be required to perform any, or all of the following: Attend meetings in and out of the office, travel (sometimes extensively); Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand; Communicate effectively (both orally and in writing); Ability
to effectively use computers and other electronic and standard office equipment; Occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work is primarily sedentary and involves sitting for several hours at a time. Occasionally walking, climbing stairs, and standing occur in this role. Additionally, this job requires certain mental demands, including the ability
to use judgment, withstand moderate amounts of stress, and maintain attention to detail. The Clearing
