Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate person to assume the role of Dishwasher / Porter. A vital part of the kitchen team, this individual is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, and kitchen area. Ensuring a smooth operation within the restaurant, the Dishwasher plays a critical role in providing a delightful dining experience for guests in a casual fine dining environment.

Key Responsibilities

Dishwashing

• Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and cooking utensils using dishwashers or by hand.
• Ensures dishes are sanitized and available as needed.
• Sets up or breaks down the dishwashing area as required.
• Maintains an organized and clean workstation.

Sanitation & Cleanliness

• Keeps the dish room and equipment clean and organized.
• Maintains a high standard of sanitation and cleanliness in all kitchen areas.
• Cleans food preparation stations and equipment.
• Removes trash, empties garbage containers, and ensures the cleanliness of the garbage area.
• Ensures all breakages and chipped items are removed from circulation and inventoried.

Equipment & Supplies

• Ensures dishwashing and related equipment are in good working order and reports any malfunctions to management.
• Restocks supplies as needed.
• Handles and store cleaning products safely and in accordance with regulations.

Team Support

• Assists kitchen staff with food prep tasks as needed.
• Works alongside the kitchen team to promote cooperation and efficiency.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Safety & Compliance:

• Adheres to restaurant and safety policies and procedures.
• Handles kitchen equipment, sharp tools, and machinery safely.
• Understands and follows chemical handling and sanitation procedures.
• Complies with local health department regulations.

Successful Candidates Will Have:

• Strong work ethic and ability to successfully work within a team environment
• Practical knowledge and working experience in a casual-fine-dining restaurant
• The ability to listen intently, process information and to provide clear and accurate results
• Excellent communications skills and an innate ability to ensure critical information is shared timely
• A sense of humor and the ability to maintain a consistent demeanor with staff
• Current Food Handling Certification as locally required
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand without support for long periods of time
