Hutton is Hiring a Regional Facility Service Assistant Technician Near Salina, KS

As a facility service assistant technician, you’ll embody this approach while performing tasks involved with service work orders, preventative maintenance, small remodels/upgrades, and repair of warranty items.

Description:

Service work includes wall framing, drywall, painting, cabinet/millwork installation, flooring, door and hardware installation/repair, caulking and sealants, etc.

Repair, replace or coordinate such repairs or replacement on miscellaneous warranty and service work items. Read blueprints, submittals, sketches, estimates, or plans and be able to execute the necessary tasks to complete the job.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

General:

  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Layout accurately, using a framing square, plumb bob, level and/or lasers.
  • Handle rough and finish carpentry tasks.
  • Safely operate power tools associated with carpentry or other miscellaneous tasks.
  • Investigate water infiltration issues in order to repair and/or make recommendations to the Facilities Services Manager.
  • Prioritize safety protocols and use protective gear.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Complete any other tasks assigned by your supervisor.

Repairs and Maintenance:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair issues.
  • Fix broken fixtures, doors, windows, and other building components.

Remodeling Projects:

  • Collaborate with project managers and lead technicians on the completion of commercial remodels and interior finish upgrades.
  • Assist with demolition, framing, drywall installation, and sheetrock finishing work.
  • Install cabinets, doors, door hardware, restroom accessories, partitions, wood trim, and other finish carpentry components.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.

Interior Finish Upgrades:

  • Paint walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
  • Install or repair flooring, tiles, and carpets.
  • Install or repair ceilings and/or ceiling tiles.

Travel:

  • Be willing to travel regionally to different project sites. Travel is typically limited to 3-4 nights per week.
  • Adapt to varying work environments and building types.

Teamwork:

  • Work closely with our team of assistant techs, specialty techs, and licensed technicians.
  • Communicate effectively and follow instructions.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus.
  • 3 years in commercial construction, or residential remodeling
  • Proven experience in maintenance, repairs, or remodeling.

Work Environment:

You will work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Work environments will include occupied schools, hospitals, and private businesses.

You are also required to supply the following items for your own use:

  • 10” crescent wrench
  • Hammer
  • Nail bag
  • Pry bar
  • Small chalk line
  • Speed square
  • Tape measure
  • Tin snips
  • Torpedo level
  • Utility knife

Power tools and specialty tools will be provided by Hutton.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to do the following with or without accommodations:
  • Lift, push or pull materials weighing up to 80 lbs. (25 lbs. consistently)
  • Walk, bend, twist, turn, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and squat in cramped or awkward positions on a frequent basis.
  • Climb to unlimited heights on ladders or scaffolds.
  • Operate machinery that vibrates (drills, sanders, jackhammers, etc.) on a repetitive basis.
  • Perform tasks that require gross and fine hand motions and coordination.
  • Perform tasks that require clear and sharp vision.
