Hutton is Hiring an Estimator Near Salina, KS

As an estimator, you will embody this approach while performing tasks involving the estimation of costs for all Hutton projects.

Position Description

Duties/Responsibilities:

-Analyze plans and specifications for each project and quantify costs.
-Collaborate with the project manager, superintendent, and design team to estimate labor and material budgets.
-Review estimates from subcontractors for content and pricing, ensuring Hutton standards are met and are realistically priced for the geographic region and project budget.
-Develops bids for construction projects.
-Work directly with project managers to ensure proper documentation is being sent to accounting.
-Follow up with project managers periodically to ensure budget updates are being completed at various stages of the project.
-Be the main point of contact for estimating systems: Sage and On-Screen Takeoff. This includes training other team members how to use the systems and fielding additional questions when necessary.
-Create and maintain cost history spreadsheets and utilize these spreadsheets when estimating similar jobs from the past.
-Maintain inflation cost factors with data from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

- Maintain and further develop estimating system databases by updating current material, subcontractors, labor and equipment pricing rates.
-Assist IT personnel with updating, maintaining and rolling out new versions of estimating software.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

-Knowledge of and ability to follow OSHA, and Hutton safety protocols.
-Knowledge of building codes, design, site control, inspection procedures and labor in order to effectively estimate project pricing.
-Ability to read, understand and communicate building specifications.
-Able to lead and motivate others to accomplish tasks safely.
-Able to productively work in a team environment.
-Able to clearly communicate costs and budgets to superintendents, project managers, design team and owners.
-Able to do repetitive, detailed work as needed.
-Able to solve problems quickly with tact and diplomacy.
-Able to get to and from work utilizing own transportation and company vehicles.

Education and Experience:

-High school graduate.
-Bachelors degree in construction management, construction science, business administration, engineering, or related field is preferred.
-5-8 years of experience working in the construction industry.

Travel:

-May be required on occasion.
