Position Summary:
  • The Financial Operations Director oversees all aspects of the organization’s billing and revenue cycle operations while also contributing to financial analytics and data management. This role ensures optimal cash flow, enhances customer relations, and maintains efficient revenue cycle processes. This individual will oversee staff who conduct traditional billing and revenue cycle functions, and will conduct financial analysis and reporting, to include dashboards, data aggregation and reporting, billing integration, agency analytics, etc.
Job Duties:
  • Lead and oversee staff responsible for revenue cycle operations, including provider credentialing, billing, collections, and cash posting.
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making processes within the revenue cycle operations.
  • Support agency-wide analytics initiatives to monitor program performance, client outcomes, and service delivery effectiveness.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends and best practices in data management and analytics to drive innovation and enhance revenue cycle performance.
  • Develop and implement data management strategies to optimize data collection, storage, integration, and analysis processes.
  • Analyze and interpret procedural improvements within the revenue cycle by understanding revenue cycle operations, processes, reporting, regulations, payer changes, and data.
  • Manage third party vendor relationships utilized for billing and collections.
  • Oversee insurance payer contracts and fee schedules, and updates.
  • Oversee preparation of claims for submission to third-party payers, Medicare/Medicaid, etc.
  • Maintain compliance of HIPAA billing industry standards.
  • Provide support for regional fee for service monthly billing and fee agreement reports.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration regarding insurance changes, facilitating training sessions to ensure all necessary insurance data is collected for billing purposes.
  • Monitor and report ongoing performance under the contract(s) related to administrative requirements, claims processing lags, denials, bad debt and other key indicators.
  • Assist in the integration of billing systems with the data warehouse to streamline revenue tracking and financial reporting processes.
  • Regularly meet with Leadership to review billing status, billing issues or discrepancies, and make recommendations.
  • Maintain and update Standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or related field is required. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • At least three to five years’ experience in billing in a patient care environment is required.
  • Experience working with third party healthcare payers is required.
  • Experience managing AR and high collection and realization rates is required.
  • Leadership and/or supervision experience is preferred.
  • Billing experience in a non-profit environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Hybrid work environment (primarily in-office with remote opportunities).
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and ability to drive for work purposes.
  • Availability during core work hours as directed by leadership and attend all necessary meetings as needed.
