Who is Good Samaritan?

Good Samaritan Community Services is a 501(c) 3 organization that serves communities that are being underserved by traditional community support. We provide a continuum of integrated services to more than 3,500 individuals from the age of 6 weeks to 93. We serve more than 1,200 families via offices and locations in San Antonio, Brownsville, and other parts of South and West Texas.

Good Samaritan began as mission of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1939 and became an institution of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas in 1951 under the leadership of Bishop Everett Jones. Since the inception of our ministry, we have focused on serving the health and education, and social and emotional needs of our neighbors.

Our mission to "actively serve as a catalyst for change, supporting youth, individuals, and families by providing excellent community services to overcome economic poverty. We do this through a continuum of services designed to stabilize families, establish nurturing relationships, and foster self-sufficiency in those we serve through the programs and support we

provide via our Family Services and Youth and Teen Departments.

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating service delivery of the Community Youth Development (CYD) contract in the 78237-zip code, to include the Asset Building for Clients and Camp Good Sam programs. Responsible for implementing, coordinating, evaluating, and promoting these programs, the Program Coordinator ensures seamless operational management. Duties encompass supervising staff, coordinating activities, developing curricula, ensuring contract compliance, and fostering positive relationships with clients and partnering agencies.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university required. Major coursework in Education, Social Sciences, or related field preferred. Alternatively, candidates with at least 2 years of relevant experience and a minimum of 60 college credits may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience and relevant program management required.
  • Experience in leadership role with youth and teen programs preferred.
  • Experience with data collection and outcome measurement preferred.
  • At least 2 years of contract and budget management experience required.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, according to business needs and requirements.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • CPR Certified required or the ability to obtain prior to start date.

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values of Good Samaritan Community Services.
  • Ensure Asset Building for Clients (ABC) and Camp Good Sam services are delivered according to GSCS program models and activities adhere to all applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to Grant Agreement and organization.
  • Use Search Institutes 40 Developmental Assets and Developmental Relationships frameworks as a guide to coordinating and delivering program activities.
  • Support the Youth and Teen Services (YTS) Program Manager by providing oversight including managing operations, supporting, and monitoring performance related to projects, and panning for improvements where needed, as well as serving as an additional program contact and liaison.
  • Ensure lesson plans are developed and curricula is delivered according to program policy and procedure year-round and during Camp Good Sam.
  • Provide supervision and direction to program staff and conduct monthly class observation visits to monitor staff performance.
  • Maintain relationships with program partners, such as Edgewood ISD, to promote asset building in school and community settings and coordinate outreach and retention efforts for all program services.
  • Deliver lessons and chaperone field trips and other off-campus activities as needed.
  • Report participant progress and/or significant incidents to YTS Program Manager.
  • Assist in evaluating, developing, and recommending program goals and objectives, and ensure service delivery is within contract compliance and outcome goals are met.
  • Prepare and submit monthly service reports and provide assistance during funder audits.
  • Ensure data is entered into appropriate data systems, such as ETO and PEIRS, timely and accurately.
  • Assist with monitoring program expenditures and ensure that budget allocations are on track to be spent.
  • Assist the HR Department with recruitment, interview, and training processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by YTS Program Manager based on program and/or agency needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages staff, volunteers, interns, and/or work study students when assigned.

Physical Demands

Movement of documents and materials is required. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, one must be able to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk, hear, type, have close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus with good hand-eye coordination, occasionally lift between 25-35 pounds, and/or operate a motor vehicle. These physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday-Friday 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM and require occasional long hours and weekend work. This is dependent upon the nature of the special action, project, or event that may arise, and the timeframe for completion.

Travel

Local and regional travel is required.

Benefits and Compensation

Salary is $19.00/hr. A competitive compensation package will be offered for this position based upon the successful candidate’s education, skills, and experience.
