Performs difficult professional and administrative work planning, directing, and organizing the financial activities of the City. Responsible for managing audit functions; managing departmental operations; supervising division staff; coordinating, planning, and participating in general accounting functions; analyzing financial records; maintaining detailed records and files; implementing capital project procedures; analyzing data for capital projects; coordinating the upgrade and maintenance of financial software; creating journal entries; assisting with City budgets; monitoring capital budgets; creating the Schedule of Fees and Charges; coordinating the ACFR; administering the Procurement Card program; reviewing general ledger transactions; preparing, reviewing and submitting reports and/or fiscal transactions; performing month end closing of the general ledger; analyzing bank statements; and reviewing monthly financial statements in keeping with all the laws, ordinances, and city regulations.
Hours: Monday - Friday; first shift.
To compete in this selection: Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting or related field and considerable experience in public finance including supervisory experience. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of general statutes, laws, ordinances, and regulations governing City financial matters; grants and loan programs; and standard office equipment including personal computers. Must have the ability to prepare complex financial reports and analyze and evaluate complex financial systems with demonstrated communication and leadership skills.
