Your Day to Day

  • Conduct thorough inspections of projects to determine condition or necessary repairs. Identify
  • outstanding work items or construction deficiencies. Mark reference points on construction materials.
  • Document and categorize punch list items accurately, providing clear descriptions, photographs and
  • locations for each item.
  • Track the status and progress of punch list items based on their urgency, ensuring that critical issues are
  • addressed promptly.
  • Prepare layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers.
  • Build stairs and lay out and install partitions and cabinet work.
  • Measure work site dimensions.
  • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using
  • woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools.
  • Verify alignment of structures or equipment.
  • Apply decorative or textured finishes or coverings.
  • Install trim or paneling.
  • Install a variety of flooring including carpet and tile
  • Fabricate parts, using woodworking and metalworking machines.
  • Fit and install prefabricated doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish
  • hardware, such as locks, letter drops, and kick plates.
  • Install door and window bucks (rough frames in which finished frames are inserted) in designated
  • positions in building frame work and brace them with boards nailed to framework.
  • Weld and cut mild steel. Erect and handle structural steel shapes; handle compressed gas cylinders
  • (oxygen/acetylene).
  • Place and finish concrete in minor areas using screed boards and hand tools.
  • Install and finish drywall ready to paint.
  • Finish painting expertise.
  • Installation and repair of acoustical ceiling systems
  • Basic understanding of plumbing, heating / cooling, electrical and fire sprinkler systems
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents
  • General computer skills.
  • Ability to operate a pressure washer.
  • Maintain and be responsible for company-provided tools.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience as an expert-level carpenter with another employer OR Minimum 6 months experience with satisfactory performance as an Apprentice Carpenter 9-10 with Jacobsen Construction.
