Compensation: $60,273.29-$67,799.25 plus excellent benefits including generous employer contributions to medical, dental and vision premiums, and participation in the Oregon PERS retirement system, 180 days work year, (mid-September through mid- June) with summers off! Starting salary is based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

A collaborative, equity-minded leader to serve as Nurse Educator. The Nurse Educator is responsible for creating, assessing, and continuously improving the policies, processes, and practices necessary to: facilitate equitable student learning and success; deliver excellent service; and, accomplish the work of the Nursing department.

Responsibilities will include teaching lecture and theory courses, overseeing both first- and second-year nursing students in clinical environments, assisting in the instruction of basic nursing skills, and engaging in simulation lab activities to deliver an interdisciplinary, competency-based curriculum. This position will utilize a variety of teaching methods and contemporary learning technologies to enhance learning and support student achievement.

The mission of the nursing faculty is to foster a culturally diverse educational setting that embraces best teaching practices in various delivery formats and is inclusive of students from all cultural backgrounds and learning styles.

This role reports directly to the Director of Nursing and Health Occupations. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and be driven by a genuine desire to advance the College’s Mission and Priorities. Accordingly, the Nurse Educator will provide excellent service with a focus on closing equity gaps in educational access and attainment, and will work to promote inclusive prosperity throughout the Columbia Gorge region.

Columbia Gorge Community College serves a diverse region in north-central Oregon and south-central Washington. CGCC acknowledges we are on the homelands of the Confederated Tribe of the Yakama Nation and neighboring tribes as well as the 14 bands along the Inchi I’wana (Columbia River). Our main campus is within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in The Dalles, Oregon. We also have a beautiful site in the city of Hood River.

What you will do…

• Evaluate student performance based on course and program objectives and assigns grades according to established policies.
• Clearly convey program goals and learning objectives to both students and staff at clinical facilities. 
• Offer ongoing orientation and support to nurse educator associates, clinical preceptors, and nursing staff at practice sites, ensuring their activities are aligned with program goals, learning outcomes, and student competencies.
• Foster an intellectual environment that is conducive to critical thinking and meaningful learning.
• Attend and contribute to meetings of nursing faculty, the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education, various CGCC committees, and advises students academically.
• Work in collaboration with other faculty members to provide theoretical instruction, skills lab, and clinical supervision for students in the CGCC nursing program.
• Maintains a respectful and understanding approach towards the diverse academic environment, encompassing students, faculty, and staff with various backgrounds and perspectives.
• Provide a positive role model for the students, especially in areas of professionalism, conflict resolution, caring, advocacy, respect for self and others, collegiality, ethical behavior, ethical reasoning, and strong work ethic (including responsibility, dependability, and accountability) and provides constructive feedback to students.
• Participates in scholarly activities and pursues ongoing professional development in both clinical practice and educational methodologies.
• Participates in course and program assessments as well as Academic Program Reviews.
• Inspire a diverse group of employees through mentoring, professional development, and coaching; provide leadership, coordination, and oversight for the College's Administrative Services unit to integrate and support all areas of the College in service to the Mission.
• Develop and use intercultural fluency to support community-led advancement across the college's service area
• Use culturally responsive practices to benefit students, employees, and communities with historically marginalized identities
• Dismantle systems and barriers in order to achieve equitable student success.

Requirements

What you bring….

• Master’s degree in Nursing or a baccalaureate degree in nursing and master’s or doctoral degree in a related field with relevant teaching and nursing experience related to the teaching assignment. 
• Candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in a Master’s of Nursing program may be considered. 

Licensing and Experience:

• Candidates must possess and maintain an unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse license.
• A minimum of three years of full-time patient care experience as a registered nurse is required.
• Proven teaching competence, which can be demonstrated through past experience, educational background, or ongoing professional development.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills are required to effectively facilitate learning.
• Experience promoting equity-minded and diversely represented communications and materials, experience in responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
