Job Summary:
We are seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to serve as Principals (Division) for our private Islamic school at the high school, middle school, and elementary school department levels.
As a principal for a department, you will play a pivotal role in fostering an environment that promotes academic excellence, character development, and Islamic values. Reporting directly to the Head of the School, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and enhancing the educational experience for students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
> Educational Leadership:
- Provide visionary leadership to create a dynamic and enriching learning environment aligned with the school’s values and principles.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Implement and oversee curriculum development and instructional strategies that align with both Islamic and academic standards.
- Serve as a resource to teachers regarding classroom management, teaching methods, differentiated instruction, and student assessment to support all students.
- Observe classroom instruction and the implementation of curricular initiatives and provide feedback as appropriate on a regular basis and monitor goals set with teachers.
- Set clear expectations for student success; facilitate a culture of joy of learning and accomplishment.
- Organize department assignments, delegate responsibilities, and evaluate department staff twice yearly or as needed.
- Coordinate with our department principals and school leaders to ensure consistency and positive development across the school.
> Community Engagement:
- Establish positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider community.
- Collaborate with community leaders, parents, and stakeholders to enhance the overall educational experience.
- Encourage a sense of community and Islamic identity within the school.
- Ensure that policies, admissions, extracurricular programming, community events, and school communications are all mission-aligned and implemented with fidelity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
> Staff Management and Development:
- Recruit, develop, and evaluate faculty and staff to ensure a high level of professionalism and commitment to the school's mission.
- Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and maintain a positive working environment.
- Evaluate individual and departmental teacher development needs and lead, organize, and guide training initiatives to meet the needs in line with the school’s long-and short-term goals.
- Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school.
- Organize teacher appreciation/recognition activities and take initiative to promote a positive moral within the department and the school as a whole.
> Student Development:
- Implement strategies for holistic student development, emphasizing academic achievement, character building, and spiritual growth.
- Oversee the implementation of student support services to address individual needs and foster a positive school culture.
- Oversee testing and assessment in coordination with the Teaching and Learning Department, including but not limited to the implementation of MAP Growth, MYP, IB, ACT, SAT exams, AP exams, etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate responsibilities and conversations related to student behavior with teachers, students, and parents, as needed.
- Lead Student Success Team meetings.
- Facilitate and attend Teacher-Parent meetings and follow up with coordinators and parents.
> Operational Management:
- Ensure the effective day-to-day operations of the school, including scheduling, facilities management, and resource allocation in collaboration with other departments including but not limited to the master schedule, pickup/drop off schedules, lunch service, sports, and athletics, after school clubs, special events, safety and security, new student, and family orientations.
- Assist in the review and revision of the Parent Handbook and other policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with administrative staff to maintain accurate records, adhere to regulatory requirements, and manage budgets effectively.
> Islamic Integration:
- Infuse Islamic values into all aspects of the school's culture, curriculum, and activities.
- Promote an environment that nurtures Islamic identity, ethics, and respect for diversity.
> Professional Development:
- Stay informed about educational trends, research, and best practices and set individual professional growth goals on a yearly basis.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance leadership skills and stay current in educational practices and maintain certificates and documents with HR and all local and state documentation requirements.
- Oversee professional development opportunities (including new teacher training) and ensure teachers continue to be up to date on current trends and research in curriculum and instruction in collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning.
> Communication and Documentation
- Take responsibility for securing all documents used and created in an organized and easily accessible manner in the designated school system and online drive.
- Attend, participate and follow up with all weekly scheduled administrative meetings and follow-through with assigned tasks and action items.
- Organize and lead meetings and channels of communication with other school leaders, departments, and teachers for seamless planning and integration of initiatives and goals.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports to the HOS on all areas of responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in educational leadership or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in educational leadership and teaching.
- Strong understanding of Islamic principles and values.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
