Job Summary: To assist the Grocery Manager in running the Grocery Department, to meet objectives for sales, margin, and customer service, and to ensure that department policies and procedures are being followed.

Qualifications:

• Experience supervising employees
• Experience with organic and natural foods and products
• Strong communication skills, listening skills and ability to give clear instructions
• Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs repeatedly

General Responsibilities:

• Monitor day-to-day department operation
• Orient and train new Grocery staff thoroughly as assigned
• Maintain strict confidentiality about personnel issues
• In Grocery Manager's absence, monitor and adjust employee attendance
• Oversee merchandising schemes/resets in the department in conjunction with Grocery Manager
• Ensure sanitation for product processing and handling according to Department of Agriculture, Organic Standards, and department procedures
