As a part-time Library Assistant for our Guadalupe Library, you will provide routine customer service, service routing, and clerical work for our library. Your role will be essential in guiding our customers to explore and use library services.

- Two years of customer service experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
- Experience with library-related automation systems or library-related databases
- Experience working or volunteering in a public library
- Experience assisting customers with online account payments and account management
- Bilingual skills in Spanish and English
- Issue, verify, and renew library cards
- Inform customers of their account status, answer questions, and resolve customer concerns by phone, in person, or by e-mail
- Refer escalated customer concerns to appropriate staff members
- Assist customers with the use of our self-service payment kiosk and initiate search for materials claimed "returned"
- Process library materials for shelving and routing
- Perform light cleaning duties, such as dusting, straightening, and bathroom tidying
- Assist with the maintenance and display of the collection
- Library environment requiring evening and weekend availability
- Ability to cover shifts at nearby library branches
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds floor-to-waist; lift up to 5 pounds waist-to-shoulder, lift 1 pound shoulder-to-overhead, carry up to 10 pounds a distance of up to 50 feet, and push/pull up to 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet
