Chester County Library System is Hiring a Library Assistant Near West Chester, PA

West Chester Public Library

Part-time position available
West Chester Public Library

Library Assistant – Circulation; Part-time
Hours/week : 10-15 hours a week. Evenings and one Saturday required.
Starting Salary: $14.00/hour

Tasks:
• Staff Main or Children’s Department circulation desk
  • Staff Lower Level Information Desk
  • Assist library customers with information requests
  • Assist library customers with copier, printer, and scanner
  • Check in & check out materials
  • Other tasks may be assigned as needed
Qualifications:
• High School/GED diploma and relevant experience; Associate’s degree preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills; must work well with public
  • Computer (Windows based) skills a must
  • Must be comfortable using online resources to assist customers with information
inquiries
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and in contact with customers
Physical requirements:
  • Climb or stand on stairs
  • Operate computer equipment and keyboards with ease
  • Reach above shoulder height; and kneel, stoop, crouch or squat
  • Required to handle, lift, or move library materials weighing up to 35lbs; move
book trucks weighing up to 125 lbs
  • Sit or stand at a computer terminal for up to 4 hours at a busy public service desk

All library positions require the following criminal background and child abuse clearances.
Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); Child Abuse History
Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse); and Fingerprint based

agent (FBI).
