SUMMARY:
The Logistics Planner is directly responsible for ensuring customer orders are shipped accurately and on time. The Logistics Planner is also responsible for maintaining relationships with customers and carriers and assisting with any necessary activities to provide cost savings and delivery timeliness.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Planning shipments from company reports to meet customer expectations.
· Coordinating with shipping companies to arrange for transportation through our Transportation Management System (TMS) software.
· Using our TMS software to quote, book and track shipments from origination to delivery in the most cost-effective way.
· Monitoring shipment milestones using our TMS system, Dock and Yard Management Software, and carrier communication.
· Ensuring dock appointments are scheduled for pickups and deliveries.
· Coordinating with other members of our value chain including salespeople, customer service, production scheduling, shipping companies, and warehouse personnel to ensure customer needs are understood and met in accordance with our policies.
· Communicating with internal teams to identify and resolve any issues causing disruptions to the shipping schedule.
· Working together with the logistics team to solve transit issues, claims, and other service failures in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
· Ensuring compliance with company policies regarding the safe transport of goods and material handling.
· Ensuring compliance with company requirements pertaining to the accurate scheduling, labeling, shipping, and delivery of products to our customers.
· Identifying potential risks and performance failures regarding planning, scheduling, and shipping merchandise to our customers.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Associate degree is preferred.
· 3-5 years experience in supply chain management or coordination.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and with a team.
· Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
· Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
· Information Ordering — The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
· Must be able to manage multiple priorities and make sound business decisions.
