GENERAL SUMMARY:

A unique opportunity exists to join a team in creating a vibrant senior learning community on the campus of Purchase College, State University of New York. The residents of this university-based retirement community will be able to enjoy the many amenities of the college including the renowned Neuberger Museum of Art, the Performing Arts Center, the academic and athletic facilities, and the park-like campus. They will be able to enjoy all these benefits while living in a village designed specifically for their interests and needs. As part of the Purchase College community, Broadview residents will enjoy both formal and informal programming and collaborative opportunities designed to promote intergenerational engagement with members of the college community, ranging from classes and mentoring to providing employment opportunities for students. Broadview will offer the full continuum of services, inclusive of Independent Living, Assisted Living, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The community is slated to open to residents in the 4th quarter of 2023.

JOB SUMMARY

The bus person is responsible for assisting the wait staff with table service in the Community dining rooms.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Assists in clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables.

2. Assists in the stocking of waiter/waitress stations.

3. Keeps all tables and chairs free of crumbs.

4. Carries trays to/from dining room as needed.

5. Helps keep coffee pots full--pours when needed.

6. Helps keep water pitchers full--pours when needed.

7. Runs food orders to tables, and bar in a timely manner

Other Duties:

1. Assists in maintaining a high level of customer service for our residents and their guests.

2. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions in work areas.

3. Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.

4. Completes all assigned cleaning tasks.

5. Informs supervisor of equipment and supply needs.

6. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.

7. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.

2. Experience busing tables in a hotel, restaurant or club with fine dining preferred; will train.

3. Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers. Requires courtesy, tact and graciousness.

Salary Range for this opportunity is $16.00 to $18.00 per hour.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works indoors; must be able to stand/walk for 100% of the work day; must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. independently; must be able to push and pull bus carts weighing up to 50 lbs. independently; must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the work day. Must be able to perform sweeping/mopping functions with ease. Must be able to see, hear, and speak. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals.
