About the Position We are currently seeking a GIS Technician II to join our growing team in Metairie, LA. The ideal candidate possesses 0-2 years of related experience and wants to grow, collaborate, and innovate. In this position, the successful candidate will perform GIS Data Management for clients across the United States. Projects will span across multiple markets and geographies affording opportunities for broadening knowledge and deepening skill sets related to GIS projects. Essential Job Duties Data Collection and Entry: Initiate and lead gathering geographic data through various methods, including GPS, field surveys, and data acquisition from external sources. Input and update spatial data in GIS databases under supervision. Develop data editing/modification workflows and geodatabase schemas. Database Maintenance: Implement and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security. Assist in the maintenance of GIS databases, ensuring data integrity and compliance with standards. Perform routine updates to spatial datasets. Mapping: Create detailed and visually appealing maps for diverse purposes, incorporating advanced cartographic principles. Support the production of maps for internal and external use. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work. Ability to follow established procedures and guidelines. Quality Assurance: Conduct routine checks on GIS data to ensure accuracy and completeness. Report and address data discrepancies and errors. Documentation: Document procedures and workflows related to GIS data collection and management. Maintain accurate records of GIS activities and changes. Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to learn and effectively convey GIS-related information. Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to support GIS-related tasks and projects. Participate in training sessions to enhance GIS skills. Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to collaborate with team members on GIS projects. Openness to learning from experienced GIS professionals. General: Updates and maintains body of knowledge related to training, degree or job responsibilities. Completes assigned duties correctly, on time and as directed. Adheres to company policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as company needs dictate. Experience GIS Certificate or GIS related course work while in pursuit of associate or bachelor’s degree in related disciplines such as Geography, Urban Planning, Physical Science, Computer Science, or relevant discipline. No specific GIS work experience required; however, familiarity with GIS concepts is advantageous; or 2 years-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Software/Technical Skills Basic understanding of GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Enterprise). Familiarity with spatial data formats and coordinate systems. Strong understanding of geospatial data editing techniques and geodatabase management practices. Additional Information Many factors are considered when determining compensation at Pond, including scope and level of position, geographic location, candidate skill, knowledge and experience. Starting base pay may vary depending on these factors. We anticipate filling this position as a GIS Technician II with a salary range of $21.40 - $30.30 . Additional cash incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial and/or other benefits dependent on position offered.
