DKS ASSOCIATES is Hiring a Remote Traffic Operations Engineering Associate
We are seeking a Traffic Operations Engineering Associate (Engineer -in- Training) to join our team. This position will focus on operational analysis, data analytics,, traffic signal timing development and deployment, programming traffic signal controllers, and systems engineering for Intelligent Transportation Systems. The traffic operations engineer will support projects with local and state agencies throughout the western states.

- Working with city, county, and state agencies to evaluate program, corridor and intersection operations.
- Supporting a variety of medium to large sized projects/tasks in planning-analysis and transportation system management and traffic operations projects that may include program plans, corridor studies, intersection and highway analysis, traffic data and performance measures, transit signal priority (TSP), traffic signal operations coordination.
- Using computer software to model existing condition scenarios and develop timing solutions to match operational objectives.
- Programming traffic signal controller databases.
- Conducting field work to observe and document traffic operations.
- Implementing and fine-turning traffic signal timing.
- Using a variety of data sources to evaluate and analyze performance metrics.
- Preparing and reviewing systems engineering documentation for traffic signals and ITS systems.
- Staying up-to-date on the latest technology and industry best practices for ITS, signal operations and data analytics
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or similar field
- 3 years of experience with traffic signal timing and operations
- Interest in transportation system management and operations, active transportation, traffic flow and Ability to work in a team and independently
- Attention to detail and ability to perform self-review of work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative problem solver
- Experience with Synchro or other traffic analysis software
- Experience with common traffic signal controllers/firmware
- Experience with the Systems Engineering for Intelligent Transportation Systems process
