Maria Alexander Professional Services LLC is Hiring a Logistics Manager Near Perry, OH

The Logistics Manager directs the movement, distribution, and shipment of materials for the organization. Control the flow of incoming and outgoing products to ensure customer satisfaction and shipping when promised. Responsible for selecting carriers, negotiating contractor rates and improvement of supply chain efficiency. This includes performance for the Logistics Coordinator and all Drivers. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing activities of the logistics department. Implements programs that ensure the needs of the logistics department are met (training, safety, and housekeeping).

Duties and responsibilities

  • Effectively manage productivity and quality through the daily direction of logistics team members. Must conduct performance appraisals and establish the criteria to be met to achieve specific and measurable performance goals.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations, including but not limited to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Department of Transportation (DOT), and OSHA regulations.
  • Manage the third-party carriers that provide services, including meeting with carrier representatives to discuss transportation related issues, monitoring carrier performance, and reviewing current practice versus potential improvements by changing carrier mode or mix. Maintain appropriate records, such as DOT number, Motor Carrier number, and insurance coverage.
  • Dispatching trucks to meet customer expectations for on-time delivery.
  • Utilize electronic logging devices and reports to review performance, such as driver hours of service, truck idle time, hard braking events, and fuel consumption to establish miles per gallon per unit.
  • Provide flawless execution of the transportation services to our customer.
  • Develop and effectively implement sustainable transportation and logistics programs, processes and systems, to include driver qualification, hiring and training.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and work processes which promote a clean and safe work environment and minimize the risk of accidents and promote driver safety.
  • Manage driver tracking and equipment utilization.
  • Prepare daily shipping schedule for the shipments and follow up to ensure the loads are covered.
  • Utilize team to identify improvements in areas such as route optimization, carrier selection, backhauls, and trailer loading.
  • Actively participate in cost reduction, continuous improvement, and team activities.
  • Implement company policies and procedures; assure uniformity of application between shifts and between departments.
  • Maintain a standard fuel charge fee. Utilize the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s “On-Highway Diesel Fuel Price Index” to determine fee increases or decreases.
  • Compile an annual report of top 20 lanes shipped to establish rate per mile per lane and rank carriers per lane. Reevaluate the top 20 lanes at least annual by quoting those lanes to the top 20 carriers to achieve maximum savings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or,
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3 years’ work experience in logistics, preferably in steel manufacturing or with over the road flatbed trucking.
  • 3 years’ experience as a manager, preferably managing drivers.
  • Compass ERP experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA regulations, and safety training.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills – ability to solve both complex and uncomplicated problems, clearly articulating decisions and a logical execution plan based on all available information.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Self-directed, reliable, strong initiative, and bias for action.
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with team members.

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will almost always be working indoors in an office environment. * This is an On-Site Role*

Physical requirements

Duties are primarily performed while sitting at a desk or computer terminal. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and listen. The employee is frequently required to type, move between offices, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
