Overview:
As a Middle School Math Teacher Leader, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing mathematics education across our district's three middle schools. Building upon the groundwork laid by our math teachers and school leaders, you'll contribute to a collaborative, rigorous, and innovative approach to instruction. Through your leadership, you'll ensure that all students have access to high-quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment, fostering an environment where every learner can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Professional Learning Communities: Lead teacher teams in small Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) both within and across schools. Collaborate with educators to elevate mathematics planning and instruction to new heights, emphasizing collaboration, rigor, and innovation.
Provide Individual and Group Coaching: Offer personalized coaching to teachers, encompassing observation and feedback, co-planning and co-teaching, and structured coaching cycles with data analysis and student work review.
Minimum Qualification Standards:
Equity: Demonstrate a strong equity orientation, with a commitment to personal reflection and cultural responsiveness. Maintain high expectations for all students and teachers, with a belief in the capacity of every individual to excel in mathematics.
Content Knowledge: Possess extensive experience in math curriculum development and assessment, with a deep understanding of the Common Core Standards in Mathematics and proficiency-based education.
Coaching: Employ high-leverage coaching strategies to support teacher and student learning, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth mindset.
Relationship Building: Excel in building trusting relationships with teachers and administrators, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a proactive, "go-getter" attitude.
Education and Experience: Hold a Bachelor's degree in education or related field, with a Master's degree preferred. Possess a successful track record as a teacher, along with experience supporting adult learners and designing curriculum and assessment.
Certificate and License Requirements: Currently hold or be eligible for a valid teacher certification.
Physical Demands: Light physical effort may be required.
