The Lutheran Home has a night shift position available for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). We are seeking a dedicated team member to provide professional nursing care to the residents of our health center as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with regulations and policies of the facility. In this position, you can have a successful career working with our team of dedicated staff. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Obtains report from nurse being relieved and records sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary relating to the residents’ treatment needs.
  • Verify narcotic/controlled medication count with off-going nurse.
  • Gives daily report/ instruction and completes assignment sheet for nursing assistants. 
  • Provides report to nurse coming on duty, including sufficient information for follow-up action as necessary.
  • Monitor dining rooms during mealtimes to ensure residents are receiving proper diet and assistance as necessary.
  • Performs and documents comprehensive assessments of residents assigned.
  • Administers and documents direct resident care, medications and treatments per physicians’ orders and accurately record all care provided.
  • Performs and documents admission/transfer and discharge of residents as necessary and as assigned.
  • Observes the resident for changes in condition and reports these changes and the resident’s needs to the attending physician, resident’s family and supervisory nursing staff as indicated.
  • Obtains physicians’ orders and any revisions for treatments as necessary.
  • Provides education to residents and their families on disease process, medication, diet, safety and other medical issues as deemed appropriate by the physician.
  • Identifies special nursing problems and emergency situations quickly and initiates immediate “life-saving” measures in the absence of a physician.
  • Listens to resident, family or physician complaints and initiate corrective action and report special problems to the Unit Manager or Shift Supervisor.
  • Provides and maintains a safe environment for residents.
In this position you will enjoy a set 2-week schedule with every other weekend off, working 7 out of 14 calendar days. We are hiring for our night shift 6:45pm -7:15am. As a full-time team member, you can take part in our many benefits including:

Education Requirements:
  • Must be licensed as an LPN in the state of Missouri 
  • Current CPR certification
