Chess at Three is Hiring a Director of Clubs Near New York, NY

Company Description:

Thinking Cup, Inc. is a VC-backed early education company based in New York City that uses the power of storytelling to break down complex subjects for young children ages three and up.

We teach tricky subjects like chess and music through fun, engaging stories that allow even the youngest students to discover core concepts alongside silly, memorable characters. Each story-based lesson hinges on an interactive “aha” moment, a method that has revolutionized the way difficult subjects are taught and empowers everyone, regardless of experience, to pass along vital life skills to early childhood learners.

Job Description:

The Director of Clubs will be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and overall management of clubs and extracurricular programs for our young learners. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in early childhood education, an understanding of child development, and a passion for creating fun and inspiring learning environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for clubs and extracurricular programs, aligned with the company's mission and educational philosophy.
  • Collaborate with the curriculum development team to create club content and learning materials that cater to the diverse interests and learning needs of young children.
  • Manage the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of club leaders and volunteers, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary resources and knowledge to provide high-quality experiences for children.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, such as community organizations and content providers, to enhance the range and quality of club offerings.
  • Monitor and evaluate club programs and activities to ensure continuous improvement, adherence to early childhood education best practices, and alignment with company goals.
  • Develop and manage budgets for club programs, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and alignment with company financial objectives.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote club offerings and increase awareness and engagement among families and educators.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, licensing, and regulatory requirements for club programs and facilities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture among club leaders, volunteers, and children, promoting the company's values and educational philosophy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, hospitality, event management) is preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in club management, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire club managers, desk attendants and tutors.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Sound financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Knowledge of club operations, event planning, and client engagement strategies.
  • A passion for fostering community engagement and promoting a positive club culture.
