WHO YOU ARE?
As the Total Rewards & HRIS Manager you are key to AGU in supporting and inspiring a global community of individuals and organizations interested in advancing discovery in Earth and space sciences and its benefit for humanity and the environment, by being operational in focus.
You will lead strategic compensation, benefits, and staff recognition programming with an emphasis on attracting, retaining, and rewarding employees while maintaining internal equity and external market competitiveness. You will also proactively oversee AGU's HR Information System (Paycom) and drive strategic, data-driven workforce analytics to inform decision-making and goal-setting.
Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, you will serve as a subject matter expert and a key liaison to AGU staff, vendors, and customers for all compensation, benefits and HRIS related matters.
WHAT YOU WILL DO?
  • Manage AGU's HR Information System (Paycom) and drives strategic, data-driven workforce analytics to inform decision-making and goal setting.
  • Provide strategic vision and client-focused expertise in managing, analyzing, and strengthening AGU's benefits programs.
  • Manage AGU health and welfare plans, including enrollments and terminations. Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll processing.
  • Provide benefits counsel to staff throughout the organization; responds to employees and/or former employee inquiries, providing needed guidance.
  • Design, plans, and execute AGU's annual benefits open enrollment and benefits fair.
  • Manage and process all leaves of absences including FMLA/DC PFL, non-FMLA leave, Military, Worker's Compensation and personal leaves and ensure compliance with federal and local regulations. Provide guidance and communication to affected staff.
  • Provide reports and/or audits to align human capital with AGU's business strategic goals; these may include benefit, compliance, workforce, and other HR metrics.
  • Develop and implement compensation solutions that facilitate talent acquisition and retention.
  • Execute annual compensation benchmarking initiatives; Identify areas for benchmarking, select reputable surveys to participate in, and analyze current pay against results.
  • Oversee compliance with AGU's policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to benefits (i.e. leave, disability) and compensation.
  • Strategically manage and improve HRIS, implementing new functionality and business processes; improving effectiveness and efficiency; and driving leadership and staff engagement
  • Measure HRIS functionality against organizational needs and create a roadmap for systemically supporting a comprehensive range of HR disciplines including benefits, compensation, recruitment, and workforce planning.
  • Monitor, review, and reconcile benefits-related invoices. Conducts monthly audit of invoices.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING?
  • 6 years or related experience with a bachelors degree, with at least 3 years of experience in compensation, benefits or related benefits administration.
  • Knowledge of HRIS is a must; Paycom experience is preffered.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, DC PFL, ADA, Section 125, workers compensation, Medicare, and Social Security, HIPPA and DOL requirements.
  • Experience processing Payroll.
  • Experience managing Open Enrollment process is required.
  • Data analysis, math and statistics skills.
  • Benefits certification preferred (i.e. CEBS, PHR).
  • Analytical, research, writing, organizational, project management, and communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, set goals, and work independently, as well as in a group.
  • Team oriented with ability to work across all levels of the organization.
  • Organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to balance competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel and Word skills.

  • The Pay range for this position is Starting $78,785/ Mid. $105,000 / High $131,250K. Our target pay is at the midpoint.
