Crary Industries is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to provide technical, efficient and reliable service and repair to potato equipment both in the field and at the service location, with highest volume of service calls being in the spring and fall seasons. This position will work as a technician with our assembly team around service calls. This role is based in the West Fargo location.

Position Objective:

The role of Field Service Technician plays a crucial role by providing exceptional customer service to our customers by installing, servicing/repairing equipment, and interacting with customers.

Lockwood Assemblers work in teams to build potato harvesters, planters and handling equipment.

Key Activities/Responsibilities:

Service Tech Role

• Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
• Inspect, diagnose, repair and service mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components
• Manage all on site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks
• Produce timely and detailed service reports
• Operate vehicle in a safe manner and use field automation systems
• Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization
• Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings
• Build positive relationships with customers
• Perform major repair and replacement of mechanical units
• On call for service in ND/MN territory (100-200 hours annually)

Assembly Role:

• Ability to read a tape measure
• 2 years Power Tool experience (preferred)
• Blueprint Reading experience (preferred)
• 2 years Assembly experience (preferred)
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Welding experience preferred
• Valid driver license (Class A CDL License preferred, or willingness to obtain one)
• Experience and technical knowledge of heavy-duty off-road equipment
• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as tractors, forklifts, etc
• Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Experience using large and power tools
• Ability to use overhead cranes moving large tractor substructures and components
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fabricate proto-type parts, machines, and test standards
• Acquired knowledge to read and interpret technical engineering documents and drawings
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Enhanced attention to details
• Able to organize and work independently
• Able to comply with all company rules and regulations
• Able to analyze and plan
• Able to, unassisted, lift 50 pound weight from the floor and carry it 50 feet
• Able to stoop, bend and reach to full height
• Able to stand on hard surface for periods up to 3 hours in duration
• Able to exert a downward force with the right arm of 25 pounds

Job experience:

• Two years’ experience with equipment repair preferred
• Some experience with the cutting and welding of metal, or willingness to learn
• Proven field service experience with agricultural equipment

**This is a safety sensitive position**

Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit for long periods of time and to stand for various periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
• Ability to use tools or controls as required for job completion, as well as the ability to climb or balance
• Ability to work in various positions in varying limited spaces, including reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling or walking
