Position Overview

The Associate Creative Director provides leadership to creative studio that sits within the Marketing department of the US business. This position is responsible for development and execution of the creative vision for the brand which should result in break-through design and brand expression that captures the hearts and minds of our Customers and Consumers across mediums including, but not limited to but not limited to product packaging, in-store display, communications campaigns, e-commerce and print design projects. The ACD directly manages in-house designers and freelance copywriter and any other freelance creative resources required. The ACD also works closely with the VP of Marketing to identify external creative agencies that might be required for various projects and helps to guide their work to ensure brand cohesiveness and ubiquity. 

Requirements

  •  Work with other members of the Marketing team and Marketing agencies to develop creative strategies that tell the story of the Youtheory brand and its key products, leveraging consumer and business insights 
  • Develop and manage a team of creative development professionals (and freelancers) to ensure successful and timely development and completion of creative projects. Serve as a mentor and leader within the Marketing and PMO teams.
  • Be proficient in creative concepting, art direction & design; comfortable providing short-form copy& headlines as needed
  • Develop, execute and ensure adherence to brand guidelines both internally and externally with third party agencies and partners, ensuring consistency and high quality of design and copy across all touchpoints. Ability to develop style guides.
  • Oversee the creative process and development of all brand material including but not limited to product labels, POS materials, advertising, social media, website content, video production and new product development material. *
  • Provide timely feedback and approvals on for projects completed by internal and external creative staff and freelancers
  • Provide creative leadership and direction to all photo, video, web, advertising production to align with overall brand mission and strategy. 
  • Actively participate in external creative agency briefs (e.g. creative, PR, etc.) to ensure consistency in brand identity
  • Support the team in presentation of design concepts and participate in meetings (creative briefing, feedback) with key stakeholders
  • Encourage and implement continuous improvement to optimize collaboration and workflow
  • Provide input and recommendations on brand strategy, as needed, to effectively position and market products
  • Attend press approvals and direct photo shoots

Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience combined agency and in-house creative department experience including consumer brand building
  • Experience successfully managing a creative development team that produces strategic, high impact, create content across a myriad of creative platforms and channels. Has managed designers in previous roles.
  • Proven experience leading the successful execution of integrated global campaigns across multiple channels including print, broadcast, social, OOH and retail marketing.
  • Proven experience with packaging graphics design, production and post production/press checks.
  • Experience utilizing workflow systems to ensure projects are successfully executed on time and within budget.
  • Experience in CPG, Beauty, VMS or wellness preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to present to diverse audiences. 
  • Problem solver mentality- looks to find the best solution that maximizes efficiency
  • Cross-functional leader with a positive energy and proven record of developing high performing teams. Ability to quickly build an easy rapport with others, including direct reports.
  • Has expert knowledge of all design and production programs/software including Adobe design programs (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro), and experience in printing techniques. Also proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and project management systems such as WRIKE and BLUE.
  • B.A./B.S. or equivalent in Graphic/Digital Design or Visual Communications

Schedule:

In office (Irvine, CA) 4 days per week. Can be remote other day.
