About the Position

Conduct chemical and physical analyses on dietary supplement products through all stages of the manufacturing process from incoming raw materials through in-process products to finished products, stability study samples, etc. using wet chemistry techniques and analytical instrumentation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical analysis on raw materials, in-process products, stability study samples and finished dietary supplement products.
  • Prepare standards and reagents, verify calibration and operate simple as well as sophisticated laboratory instruments such as pH-meter, scale, dissolution testing instrument, disintegration instrument, FT-IR spectrometer, HPLC, UV-Vis spectrometer, etc.
  • Document analytical data in laboratory notebooks; follow Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) and other company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and applicable current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). Ensure regulatory compliance is maintained in assigned area and/or system.
  • Review certificate of analysis of incoming raw materials for accuracy and conformance, and prepare certificates of analysis of finished dietary supplements products as required.
  • Perform review of test data for accuracy and application of Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
  • Participate in submission of samples to contract testing laboratories.
  • Prepare requests for laboratory supplies; maintain a safe, clean and efficient quality control laboratory.
  • Solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision.
  • Other responsibilities as determined and assigned by Quality Control Laboratory Management.

Additional Responsibilities

  • As identified and assigned by Quality Control Laboratory Management: additional responsibilities must be related to the job description as Quality Control Laboratory Chemist.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS degree in chemistry or related field
  • 3-5 year of relevant laboratory work experience in dietary supplement, nutraceutical or pharmaceutical laboratory environment.
  • Recent work experience on HPLC and related software is highly desirable.
  • Experience in various wet chemical analysis (e.g. USP monographs) is essential.
  • Instrumentation using FTIR, NIR, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, and experience with USP, FCC, AOAC analytical methods is a plus.
  • Basic college math and basic computer knowledge (Excel and Word) are required.
  • Ability to stay focused and alert, utilize basics math skills, audit paperwork, carry out routine tasks with appropriate follow-up.
  • Team player, willing to assist others in their areas to accomplish the task.
