Sisters of St. Joseph is Hiring a Junior Computer Technology Specialist Near Brentwood, NY

Position Summary:

The Junior Computer Technology Specialist provides professional-level support services needed to fulfill the duties assigned in the Department of Technology by providing technical assistance to computer system users. This includes answering questions or resolving computer problems for staff and residence in person, via telephone or from remote locations. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, mobile devices, cellphones, and operating systems. This person will be called upon to exercise the initiative and independence that will allow the office and other departments to run smoothly. The Specialist will assist in managing, recording, and filming zoom meetings and live streams. The Specialist understands the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph and exemplifies this by his/her demeanor and fulfilling the mission of the congregation in the daily performance of their duties.


Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, certifications can be in lieu of degree.

2. Proficient in Microsoft and Apple operating systems.

3. Working knowledge of Apple and Android Mobile Devices and Cell Phones.

4. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate professionally and interact effectively with administrators, staff, residence

and visitors while properly maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

5. Must be self-directed problem solver with excellent computer, analytical, and organizational skills.

6. Professional attitude and appearance.

7. Excellent ability to prioritize tasks and use time management skills.

8. Must be able to work flexible hours.

9.Must be willing to travel across Long Island, Brooklyn, and Queens


Essential Duties & Responsibilities -
Includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Keeps an updated inventory of all hardware and software used at our Convent locations

Keep accurate records of support tickets so we can improve service for the community

Supports Zoom meetings, and Youtube Livestreams to ensure the best Audio and Video possible.

Travel to our various locations to assist residence across Long Island, Brooklyn, and Queens.

Assesses computer needs and is responsible for ordering computer hardware and software.

Assists individual residence, houses and staff in assessing their technology needs; makes recommendations about specific equipment to meet those needs; and helps to purchase and set up that equipment, as needed.

Creates and implements educational workshops and documentation for staff and residence on the use of the computer and software programs on a weekly, or as needed basis.

Maintains the house computers in the Living with Assistance and Retirement residences.

Offers technical assistance to individual residence and small groups during monthly visits to off site locations.

Works with Director of Technology for more in-depth troubleshooting on as-needed basis.

Coordinates the environmentally friendly recycling of old tech equipment.

Performs related and miscellaneous duties as requested.


Essential Role Characteristics:

  • Understanding of and commitment to the charism and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform functions, repair and troubleshoot office machines, email, security, networks, hardware and software programs.
  • Keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to position.
  • Ability to do long-range planning that ensure analyzing information, evaluating results to choose the best solution, solve staff/residences' problems and preservation of technical resources.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work both alone and in a team setting.


Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:

This job typically operates in a professional office environment but will be subject to various conditions where equipment/wiring is housed (attic, walls, basements, etc.). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, stapler, pens/pencils and phones, etc.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift computers & printers, open filing cabinets, crouch, bend, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. This position is spilt between a sedentary, standing and crouching position due to the variety of conditions that may be encountered when installing equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
