Sisters of St. Joseph is Hiring a Nurse Manager Near Brentwood, NY

POSITION SUMMARY:
Manage nursing staff and oversee the day-to-day nursing care for all Sisters at the Convent is met. Ensure Sisters are treated with respect and dignity and deliver quality care as Sisters healthcare needs change. Create a patient focused, caring environment for all Sisters and recuperates. Collaboration with Administrator, physicians, colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members. Manage nursing staff and oversee the nursing care for all Sisters at the Convent.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Possess an active New York State RN certification and 5 years of recent nursing experience.

Capable of working collaboratively as well as independently.

Good judgement and Critical thinking skills.

Time management skills.

Commitment to continuing professional development including active participation in in-service classes.

CPR certification is required.

Ability to relate to sister-residents professionally and with understanding and sensitivity.

Experience and updated knowledge in nursing techniques and care programs.

Ability to document, speak and be understood in English.

Requires outstanding oral, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.

Valid Driver's License.

Must be fully COVID vaccinated.


ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities (include, but is not limited to):

Understanding of and commitment to the charism and mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Promote an environment that allows Sister-residents to function as independently as possible.

Orient new nurses; assess and supervise all nurses and nursing aids on duty.

Ability to handle emergencies effectively and on-call.

Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, facility philosophy, and operational policies.

Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on unit, general cleanliness, prevention of pressure wounds, and apparent maintenance of optimal Sister functions.

Review 24-hour report daily.

Maintain safe standards for controlled substances and dispose of discontinued controlled substances per state and pharmacy regulations.

Participate regularly in scheduled meetings.

Manage shift budget and inventory levels.

Perform rounds to maintain quality of care is maintained.

Maintain all documentation as required by law.

Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and operational policies.

Communicates with physicians regarding Sisters status and condition changes. Ensure Sisters are prepared for physician appointments and visits.

In conjunction with facility supervisors, supports the management of nursing staff schedules, ensuring that all nurses meet their work scheduled hours; plans for nursing vacancies, vacations, FMLA, sick time and any other nurse coverage needed.

Recognize changes in Sister's condition and respond appropriately.

Ability to function as a team leader as well as work as a contributor in a team environment.

Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and energy.

Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

Coordinates St. Joseph's College Nursing program to help provide a positive experience for the Sisters and the students during their internship at the Convent.

Work directly with the Healthcare Team to foster a cohesive and professional flow within hierarchy of management to ensure continuity of care and that all staff adhere to the Convent protocols.

Performs other related duties as required.

Occasionally bend, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
