Sisters of St. Joseph is Hiring a Long Island Immigration Program Manager Near Brentwood, NY

Position Summary:

The Immigration Program Manager is responsible for supporting the coordination and administration of

the prose asylum clinic, which is a volunteer-driven program. This person will work under the

direction of the Director, assisting in the coordination of clinic sessions, case management, and

volunteer supervision. His position will work Monday through Friday with some evening hours.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and participation in Immigration Clinic sessions; ensures volunteer teams are staffed.
  • Supervises the Assistant Immigration Clinic Coordinator.
  • Reviews and oversees the case management database.
  • Compiles supportive documents to file applications (i.e. i589 Asylum, and i765 Employment

Authorization) and other immigration forms.

  • Monitors immigrant friends; court hearings and deadlines.
  • Oversees the immigrant friend support group that meets bi-monthly at LIIC.
  • Recruits, trains, and provides mentoring to new volunteers. Updates materials as needed.
  • Creates a volunteer e-newsletter and marketing materials in Spanish and Haitian Creole.
  • Communicates with higher education institutions on internship opportunities.
  • Supervises undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Updates and creates posts for social media accounts for LIIC on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Translates clinic materials and reviews translations of certificates.
  • Creates and participates in virtual and face-to-face outreach webinars/events/celebrations.
  • Attends immigration law webinars and trains on immigration law.
  • Networks with immigration advocates and organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work required.
  • SIFI certification desirable.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish; Haitian Creole a plus.
  • 3-5 years experience in community-based services, social work, or related field.
  • Familiarity and ease with computer technology and navigating online databases.
  • Ability to interact well with diverse individuals and groups and work with vulnerable or

traumatized populations.

  • Working knowledge of the field of immigration and current U.S. immigration policy.
