Carleton-Willard Village is Hiring a Facilities Technician Near Bedford, MA

Carleton-Willard Village is a retirement community located in Bedford, MA. Services include supportive care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and memory care all in a village-type setting. Our 72 acre sanctuary of pristine woods, meadows, walking paths and gardens is just north of Boston.
As a member of the facilities team, this position performs routine manual tasks involved in the maintenance, repair or beautification of campus buildings, grounds or roads, such loading and unloading vehicles; moving and setting up furniture; spreading sand, gravel, or; setting or pulling posts; digging for/or repairing fences and posts; cleaning or marking roadways for parking lots; erecting or dismantling snow fences; painting fences, posts, guardrails or building exteriors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs routine laboring tasks to assist skilled tradespeople engaged in maintenance, repair or construction work using hand and electrical tools appropriate to craft, such as assisting with the dismantling, fabrication, alteration, and construction of building structures and building systems
  • Performs maintenance tasks as directed
  • Transportation of residents
  • Snow removal including plowing, snow blowing, shoveling, treatment to walkways and roadways when icy conditions, and other manual tasks involved with snow removal, control and disposal
  • Set up and breakdown of activity events
  • General upkeep of grounds, main entrance and motor vehicles
  • Security responsibilities
  • Waters, sprays, grass, for ground beautification
  • Sweeps sidewalks, rakes and collects leaves, collects and hauls debris or rubbish
  • Cleans campus property such as corridors, walls, floors, windows, furniture, empties and cleans waste barrels, garbage cans and other waste receptacles
  • Cleans, washes, refuels, oils or greases trucks or automobiles; performs other manual labor tasks in connection with the maintenance and operation of a garage or equipment depot
  • Locks or unlocks premises; reports hazardous and unusual situations to the appropriate authority
  • Makes general repairs of a simple nature, including minor repairs to groundskeeping equipment
  • Operates wheel tractors, electric trimmers, or other similar mechanical or power-driven equipment; drives a truck
  • Prepares, file reports and keeps simple records, such as vehicle maintenance logs or inventory counts
  • Essential personnel first response team member for all types of weather, facility problems and emergencies
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Flexibility in work hours to include weekends and holidays to support 24/7 operation
  • Committed to working with residents and families to develop and implement strategies that promote person-centered care
  • Applies "5 Star" customer service approach in all aspects of job
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
  • Reports to the appropriate managers any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations, or standards of conduct
  • Attends required in-services and training
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid MA State Drivers License
  • OSHA 10 training preferred
  • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work well with interdisciplinary teams, residents and families
