Position: Safety Manager
Location: Burr Ridge, IL
Reporting To: Chief Operating Officer
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join our company and oversee all aspects of safety within our operations. The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify potential safety hazards, assess risks, and implement measures to mitigate them. The Safety Manager will also be responsible for conducting safety training, promoting a culture of safety awareness, and investigating incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety, with specific experience in the telecommunications industry.
Key Accountabilities:
· Safety Audits: Perform periodic jobsite safety inspections and prepare reports. Assess safety hazards, ensure all work is performed following all safety rules and regulations.
· Employee Training: Conduct and track ongoing in-house training on various safety topics. Ensure implementation of in-house safety programs, policies, and practices. Assist in providing in-house training on: Comtrain, OSHA, First-Aid/CPR, RF Awareness, etc.
· Compliance Assurance: Keep records of employee’s certifications. Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact on the company.
· Incident Management: Thoroughly investigate all accidents, incidents and events involving property or equipment damage; create a corrective action plan and communicate it with the employees and supervisors.
· Regulatory Liaison: Assist corporate counsel with legal issues related to safety and health matters; represent the company in all safety related hearings (OSHA, etc.).
· Continuous Improvement: Exercise initiative or as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.
· Reporting and Documentation: Maintaining accurate safety records and preparing reports for senior management and regulatory agencies.
· Safety Culture: Promoting a culture of safety by engaging with employees, fostering safety awareness, and encouraging reporting of safety concerns.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Minimum 5 years of experience as Safety Manager in any industry
· Good Computer skills
· Good communication skills
· Valid Driver License
· Relevant Safety Instructor/Trainer Certification
· Travel to job sites (not less than 70%)
· Ability to operate advanced hand/power tools, testing equipment, alignment tools.
· Ability to travel as needed.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
Requirements:
· Must be RF Awareness, CPR/FIRST AID, OSHA 10/30, Comtrain (or equivalent) certified.
· Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
· Certified Comtrain Instructor
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to climb and work on the towers, poles, buildings (no fear of heights)
· Must be able to lift and carry at least 70 lbs.
· Must be able to perform the essential job functions efficiently safely and successfully.
· Must be able to work in inclement weather (snow, heat, high winds, etc.) and variety of shifts (including nights)
· Must be able to pass ongoing drug screen testing.
