SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The person in this role will build relationships with women and men involved with the Springs Rescue Mission (SRM) through counseling within an environment of grace. Counseling will be biblically based and address spiritual-, mental-, emotional-, and physical-health issues to include substance abuse and recovery. Clients will be participating in SRM Addiction Recovery Services to include Residential, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), or Outpatient Counseling. The incumbent will have significantly more involvement with women's recovery services participants, doing testing and admissions work which require drug tests through observed urinalysis. Clients will be in the SRM New Life Program (NLP) or the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). BFOQ - Female gender is a bona fide occupational qualification considering this position's duties and responsibilities in SRM's Women's Ministry Program. At times this role will need to fill in for recovery services for male participants as needed, excluding observed urinalysis testing and any other male BFOQ specific job function.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Counseling
  • Conduct interviews to assess a program candidate's suitability for the program, determine candidate's suitability, then work with the team to schedule intake.
  • Coordinate with SRM case managers and resource center staff.
  • Conduct comprehensive intakes to include completion of all required admission paperwork.
  • Maintain a caseload of residential, intensive outpatient, and outpatient counseling clients and meet with them regularly.
  • Identify and assess client's needs and goals.
  • Develop an individualized care plan in regard to recovery to meet those needs and goals.
  • Update/modify care plan as needed to continue to meet needs and goals.
  • Coordinate and collaborate all pending and completed program discharges with Manager of Addiction and Recovery.
  • Consult with SRM case managers & outside agencies to assist client's in procuring needed resources and services within the community.
  • Maintain current and complete case notes and records for each client.
  • Attend & participate in Client Coordination Meetings, Reentry Meetings, and Accountability Team meetings as required. Coordinate with Vocational Training supervisors and staff.
  • Complete monthly statistical information and submit by deadline for compilation of reports.
  • Counsel clients on caseload to stimulate and facilitate growth and development towards a healthy addiction-free life.
  • Counsel clients to help in the healing process towards increased efficacy of decision-making; problem-solving; turning away from destructive behaviors; navigating change; and increasing the client's competency and autonomy.
  • Facilitate assigned process groups (group counseling).
  • Assist in the recruiting, application, screening, intake and treatment process of those in the Addiction & Recovery Services as needed.
  • Conduct classes in Addiction & Recovery Services as assigned and/or as needed.
Other
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist with administrative program functions such as maintaining Mission Tracker data base; maintaining program rosters; gift card dispersal and participating in drug and alcohol testing.
  • Teach classes as assigned aimed at providing information, support, and equipping to encourage growth and development. Example of classes or groups include bible study, discipleship, relapse prevention, early recovery skills and life skills.
  • Attends all required meetings and reviews SRM emails regularly
  • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's or bachelor's degree; in social work, counseling, psychology, human services or related field preferred.
  • Christian counseling, addiction, and recovery counseling, and working within recovery ministry are a plus
  • One to three years prior related experience OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Addiction technician (CAT) and working towards Addiction Specialist (CAS) required, Registered Psychotherapist preferred.
  • Certified Addition Specialist (CAS) credential completed or able to complete within 30 days, or Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) credentialing completed or able to complete within 30 days and working towards CAS credential.
  • LPC, LSW, and/or CAS preferred. Will consider LPCC or Registered in the Department of Regulatory Agencies database as an Unlicensed psychotherapist with intentions to be licensed post master's degree or upon obtaining CAS credential.

  • Good analysis and discernment skills, able to facilitate the identification and resolution of client issues.
  • Knowledge of recovery, addiction, and mental illness.
  • Strong resource acquisition and coordination abilities.
  • Good communication skills: written, verbal and instructional
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a sometimes, unpredictable, work environment while achieving program goals and meeting deadlines.
  • Honest, perceptive, adaptive, objective, and trustworthy.
  • Organization with regard to people, things, and information, including excellent time management skills.
  • Computer literate-proficient in Word, Excel, and internet.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; frequently = 34%-66%; continuously = 67%-100%.
  • Typically works in indoor office or shelter environment.
  • Occasionally: must be able to lift up to 20 pounds, collection of urine specimens, bend or stretch
  • Frequently: walking, talking, climbing of stairs daily, manual dexterity
  • Continuously: sitting, contact with street populations, adequate vision and hearing, good mental condition to withstand consistently medium to high levels of stress

Salary & benefits include the following: $55,000/year , DOE.
* Full benefits package to include: medical benefits with SRM paying 85% of the medical premium, voluntary Dental, Vision, Allstate Accident Plan, SRM-paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, and AD&D. Also offered are 8 paid holidays, 21 days of accruable PTO, paid "Soul Care Retreat" days (up to 4 depending upon availability), and a 403b retirement plan with SRM-match after one (1) year, 100% vested beginning DOH; (Benefits are subject to change based on reevaluation or benefit plan changes annually.)
*Benefits begin at 1st of the following month after completing a full 30 days of employment (I.E. start date 4 January 2023, benefits initiate 1 March 2023)
