Assists other Cherokee Nation programs and departments in writing and preparing proposals and projects; identifies funding opportunities; creates, reviews, and edits proposals; and provides training to programs to identify funding opportunities, develops competitive proposals, and other aspects necessary for obtaining external funding. Develops and administers a system for tracking and monitoring assigned grants, including monitoring compliance with applicable federal, state, tribal, or other funding agency requirements.
Job Duties:Identifies and researches corporate, foundation, federal, and state government sources of funding. Researches funding source proposal requirements and submittal deadlines and communicates those to applying programs or departments. Communicates regularly with the Cherokee Nation programs or departments applying for funding opportunities - facilitate and/or attend meetings as needed - to determine program needs, discuss funding opportunity requirements, determine completion timelines, and overview suggestions. Disseminates information and interprets both internal and external application requirements for partners and internal program staff. Coordinates completion of application elements, including developing application checklists and timetables, to assist programmatic staff with meeting necessary deadlines. Acts as a central depository for all grant/contract documents and executes archival links of the administrative records in an efficient manner. Organizes and composes material as required or assigned using word processing software or design and layout software. Maintains administrative records, including official original grant/contract documents. Consults with program team leads and subject matter experts to ensure a common understanding of research and related materials. Reviews completed application materials, including narratives, budgets, forms, and various attachments for compliance with funding opportunity guidelines and instructions, in content, format, and grammatical correctness before submission. Prepares grant applications and/or sections of applications, in accordance with detailed instructions and regulations, and facilitates the submission of applications, in accordance with procedures, within prescribed time limits. Identifies and accesses public databases, journals, scientific publications, federal agency reports, and other sources as appropriate to find data to support applications. Develops and administers a system for tracking and monitoring assigned grants for compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and funding requirements. Provides progress report preparation, subcontract monitoring, sponsor approval, and closeout documentation. Provides technical support regarding grants/contracts to resolve issues and correct deficiencies as needed. Assists with in-service training to Grant Services staff and proposal writers within the tribe, as assigned. Assists with the creation of manuals, guides, and other aides for program use. Coordinates among partners for the development of agency comments or improvements as necessary. Other duties may be assigned.

No supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university; or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
No additional experience required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should know Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Very high-level technical writing skills, including the grammatical and syntactic, and analytic composition of long and sustained plans. The ability to grasp and write in many domains.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
