The Leadership School is Hiring a Principal in Residence Near St. Louis, MO

The Leadership School is an educational option that prepares students to be in the driver’s seat of their own learning and to navigate the path toward the lives they imagine for themselves. We are the first public charter school in St. Louis County, paving the way for educational choice and opportunity for all families in the St. Louis area. We opened our doors in 2022 and serve K-4 students in the Normandy area. We are building our team of hardworking, results-oriented educators who embody our mission: to grow our students’ leadership capacity through earnest engagement in academically rigorous, culturally relevant, and relationship-oriented environment.

Our team begins each year with 3.5 weeks of professional development in the summer and then dedicates themselves throughout the year to your growth. Principal in Residence

The Principal in Residence is a systems leader and people manager who coaches teachers and lead team members to achieve ambitious goals. The Principal in Residence is entrusted with advancing the mission of the school through their leadership. As the leader of staff culture, the PIR will ensure that the schools’ practices promote a supportive and sustainable environment that is committed to the continuous development of each staff member.

Key Responsibilities

School Culture

  • Embody The Leadership School’s vision for continuous development
  • Foster a culture of growth, support, and collaboration among staff
  • Provide input and aid in the development of the school improvement plan
  • Teach & enforce school-wide systems, procedures, and cultural expectations at all time
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with students and families
  • Establish and maintain structures for grade-level teams to ensure they work effectively and cohesively

Academics

  • Manage, develop, and retain a team of 3-5 teachers
  • Utilize the Teacher Development Rubric to coach and aid in the development of teachers
  • Create a scope and sequence for each course that you manage to ensure effective pacing
  • Coordination of all standardized student assessments and evaluations, including state assessments, interim assessments, and nationally normed assessments
  • Design and execute professional development sessions based on observational data and assessment data to develop teachers in their instructional and pedagogical practices
  • Support teachers in their development of unit plans and the internalization of lesson plans

School Operations

  • Build and maintain strong systems for school operations to ensure the campus is safe, welcoming, and efficiently run
  • Manage aspects of school-wide operational routines such as arrival/dismissal procedures, breakfast, lunch, and recess

Driver Goals

  • Maintain an instructional staff retention rate of at least 95% throughout the 24-25 school year
  • Maintain a student retention rate of at least 95% throughout the 24-25 school year
  • Maintain a year-over-year staff attrition rate of less than 10%
  • Maintain a year-over-year student attrition rate of less than 10%
  • Maintain 95% ADA
  • Obtain favorable ratings on at least 85% of student, staff, and family culture surveys

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience working in schools as a teacher and leader
  • At least 2 years of experience in a school or district leadership position
  • A track record of success as a teacher and leader
  • Experience leading teams to success
  • A relentless commitment to educational equity and preparing students for a life of choice and opportunity

What We Offer
