Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute has an immediate opening for a full-time, Billing Team Lead, to work in the Billing Department at our San Marco office. We offer competitive pay and full benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401K retirement plan.

Responsible for managing your team. Collect, post, and manage patient account payments. Responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies. May work in a specialty area such as: Physical Therapy, Private Insurance, Workers Compensation, Collections, Surgical Appeals, or Refunds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Train all new employees on billing software and monitor their progress.
• Communicate expectations clearly to each employee.
• Obtain, review and verify patient or payor information related to preparation and processing of patient bills and eligibility for coverage.
• Use coded data to process and submit claims.
• Operate a computerized patient account system to enter and update data.
• Work directly with the insurance company and/or patient to get claims processed and paid.
• Review information about patient treatment, diagnosis, and related procedures to ensure proper coding and billing.
• Research and resolve issues that would prevent accurate, prompt claim billing.
• Ensure prompt and accurate reimbursement for procedures.
• Respond to billing questions and concerns in a timely manner.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
• Has knowledge of and adheres to all compliance regulations, policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• Prior experience in medical billing required.
• Able to multi-task and work independently.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding, Commercial, HMO, and Medicare insurance billing.
• Knowledge and understanding of billing and coding standards devised by the business, government and the healthcare industry.
• Must be well organized and detail oriented.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor.
• Computer proficiency.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification a plus but not required.
