Early Childhood Coordinator

Non-Union, At-Will, Full-Time position


In this role

The Early Childhood Coordinator will work in close partnership with the Director of Early Childhood Services to provide leadership across all aspects of the Early Childhood Department, including coordinating and providing customized professional development, supporting various early childhood grant projects, grant writing and reporting, coordinating the Help Me Grow system, onboarding new GSRP partners, supporting GSRP sub-recipients, recruiting Tri-Share partners, implementing family engagement initiatives, and supporting early literacy, including the regional Literacy Hub.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Child Development; Master’s degree in early childhood preferred


Skills and Training

  • Minimum five years of related experience in an early childhood leadership role
  • Trainer of Trainer for Birth-3 and Prek Literacy Essentials preferred
  • Knowledge of Michigan’s childcare /early childhood systems, including child care licensing and Michigan’s early childhood standards of quality
  • Demonstrated skills in collaboration and partnership-building with educators, childcare professionals, and community partners
  • Grant writing experience, including state-funded and competitive applications
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Solid knowledge of literacy for children ages birth - 5th grade
  • Experience in fostering effective early childhood initiatives
  • Strong technology skills including the Google suite, Microsoft suite, and the use of state and national data systems, including NexSys, EGrAMS, MyTeachingStrategies, ASQ Online
  • Evidence of active participation and leadership in professional activities


Specific duties and responsibilities of this position

  • Implement activities to support a high-quality birth to five system throughout the county and region to ensure positive child outcomes that support successful kindergarten entry.
  • Collaboratively develop, prepare and submit grant proposals. Provide grant oversight and prepare required grant reports.
  • Coordinate and facilitate early literacy professional development.
  • Lead early childhood programs and services related to family outreach and engagement, including:
    • Help Me Grow outreach and care coordination, data collection, and ASQ online
    • Tri-Share
    • Family Engagement Hub & Literacy Hub (35i grant) implementation
    • Implement and support the use of the MIECC coordinated enrollment system and the St. Clair County Early Childhood Hub
  • Support the GSRP early childhood contact with onboarding new GSRP sub-recipients.
  • Partner with the GSRP coordinator to complete GSRP and Strong Beginning annual child file reviews and provide recruitment/enrollment support to sub-recipients.
  • Collaborate with the Great Start Collaborative Coordinator to coordinate and align St. Clair County’s early childhood system.
  • Establish and sustain relationships with a diverse group of early childhood stakeholders, school districts, community partners, and local childcare providers to build collaborative partnerships.
  • Maintain networks at the local, regional and state levels.
  • Facilitate local early childhood networks.
  • Work cooperatively in a team capacity with early childhood department staff and others within St. Clair County RESA.


Compensation

Salary range of $70,000-$72,000, depending on expertise and experience and a comprehensive benefits package including multiple health insurance plans, long-term disability, vision, dental, and life insurance, paid leave time, paid holidays, membership in the Michigan Public Schools Employee Retirement Plan, and a positive work/life balance.
