City of St. Paul is Hiring an Accounting Technician I Near Saint Paul, MN

About the Position

The Office of Technology and Communications (OTC) is looking for a skilled Accounting Technician to join our team. This temporary role will be responsible for efficiently handling various accounting tasks including maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth financial operations of our department. This position will work closely with the City’s Office of Financial Services, Office of Technology leaders and the OTC Business Management group to track expenses, reconcile accounts, and manage financial transactions related to technology projects and initiatives.
This position requires attention to detail and strong organizational skills as it will be essential in managing multiple accounts and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with accounts payable/receivable tasks, including invoice processing, payment processing, and vendor communication
  • Ordering supplies and processing requests including workshops and training and/or CEU courses
  • Assist with and perform audits and budget reconciliations to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Support OTC’s Budget Manager by preparing and maintaining financial reports for leadership and management, providing insights and analysis as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and associated documentation
  • Collaborate with OTC leadership and the OTC Business Management group to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency
  • Collaborate with the office manager to coordinate administrative tasks and support office operation
Location and Hours
This position is hybrid and will be performed mostly remotely with the possibility of working on-site at the City Hall Annex at 25 West 4th Street, Saint Paul, MN 55102. This position will work 25-30 hours per week. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with flexibility.

Position Requirements

High school graduation and at least 15 credit hours/semester equivalents in courses acceptable toward the junior accounting certificate as given by the University of Minnesota (certain courses may be substituted for those required for the junior accounting certificate);

and

Two years experience as an Accounting Clerk II or equivalent (bookkeeping work in accordance with policies and procedures in maintaining financial records, posting data to various accounts, auditing invoices and records; preparing related forms and reports).

Each additional year of qualifying experience may be substituted for five credit hours or semester equivalents.
