We currently employ over 800 professionals to support our mission. From an accounting perspective, our structure is complex in that we have multiple communities across Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio. We are looking for an energetic, highly motivated, customer service-oriented individual to join our team! This position is a hybrid remote/office with our headquarters in in Lawton, MI
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
We are growing and are looking for an individual who has the ability to continually adjust to change, drive to make a difference, and desire to improve. The Accounting Specialist will report directly to our Accounting Associate. The Accounting Specialist position will provide a variety of general support tasks in the Accounting Department.

• Provide friendly, high-quality customer service for our clients
• Assist the Accounting Team in developing, implementing, and monitoring of internal control procedures
• Process customer invoices, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
• Receive, process, and reconcile statements
• Assist with preparation for annual audits
• Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures
• Maintain accurate records, including ledgers, journals, receipts, and invoices
• Develop and communicate solutions back to employees within established timelines
• Monitor compliance with GAAP and company procedures
• Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to demonstrate and maintain evidence of your technical knowledge
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Knowledge of web-based software programs a must
• Ability to analyze information and formulate solutions for implementing financial accounting software system
• Ability to review, classify, prioritize, and analyze problematic situations
• Proficient utilization of office equipment and financial software
• Effective communication, oral and written.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or relative field
• At least three (3) years accounting experience
• Yardi
